18 - If a duck meowed on the 24th of April at approximately 16:21, will a rock stub your toe on tuesday? I would think this is rather important to understanding my beliefs, or completely unimportant. Maybe it was that one. The real question here is what my beliefs are. As a member of the Erisan Movement, I suppose I believe that randomness has a good deal lot to do with lots of things. Purple tastes interesting, by the way.
Discordianism could be about the same age as Kwanzaa. Some may argue that the religion was thought up in a bowling alley after an acid trip. Others may argue that a pelican cannot swallow his own pride. No matter what color your potato is, Alfred is pleased.
I suppose my beliefs are more in depth than simply "Hail Eris."
I do believe is some sort of divine, but as to the nature of that divine, I cannot really say. I like the [what I believe to be Kabbalist] belief that "to define the devine is heresy." However, the idea that the greek goddess of discord really is still mucking about causing all sorts of chaos would not surprise me in the least really. I also think pretty highly of humanism. I do believe that our thoughts can shape our reality. I read a theory suggesting that our brains are what split off possible reality timelines each time we make a decision, or something happens a certain way that could have been different. The online article claimed that most scientists support the theory.
I also believe in beings that live on earth such as Fairies, Fey, Dragons or other such creatures. Obviously, I don't really have any way to substantiate their existence, so I don't. I just sorta have a hunch they're there.
Most of all I believe in an open mind. Given how we are still figuring out new things about how our universe works, I find it very possible that there are things we don't understand that seem superstitious to any science spouting atheist. I realize when I can't know and while I still have hunches about how it works, I will never try and force another to view it the same way.
I also believe that we can manipulate energy (see: Reikki healing), as well as in a subconscious collective thought. At the very least, I believe it is possible to connect with the minds of those around us.
I believe we as a species are evolving into something different. I believe that in the same way that we are made up of a conglomerate of cells, it is possible that we ourselves make up the divine is a similar conglomerate.
I believe in spirit animals, aka Totems. I believe that my spirit animals are Elk, Crow, and Fox.
That ought to give you a good idea of the sorts of things I will believe. As per always, none of my beliefs are set in stone. My beliefs seem to change over time, which think is good. I have a healthy curiosity in the spiritual and supernatural. I don't obsess over any of it though. I just enjoy thinking about it or reading about it ^_^
The faiths I seem to hold according to
some random online survey are, in top 5 format:
5. Mahayana Buddhism (92%)
4. Liberal Quakers (92%)
3. New Age (96%)
2. Unitarian Universalism (99%)
1. Neo-Pagan (100%)
Thanks for clearing that up, Internet! :>
