So yes long time no typey typey.
Nothing has changed, been working a lot.
But tonight after work I watched Grindhouse.
It is awesome, well in more depth it's mostly awesome,Planet Terror is over the top goodness,Rodriguez totally used the Grindhouse aesthetic to the max, and it's soooo good. The trailers are just great, especially Rob Zombie's She Werewolves of the SS,including an insane Nicholas Cage as Fu Manchu.
Now Death Proof is kind of odd, you see I'm a big fan of Tarantino, he's pretty much my second fav director after Scorsese, and I love the dialog he puts together in his films but Death Proof at times felt like the view but with more cursing and more interesting topic discussion.Don't get me wrong Death Proof builds up with it's dialog and it pays off really well, but there were just some points where it was almost painful the amount of dialog Tarantino threw in there.Really it was just bad positioning I think, Planet Terror should have been second because after getting all adrenaline juiced during PT, Death Proof just doesn't work as well. Also two more things. Firstly the soundtrack for Death Proof is damn amazing, Tarantino knows the best tunes to use and how to use them much like Scorsese. Secondly my only other complaint about DP is that all of it's Grindhousiness seems kind of tacked on whereas PT was practically drenched in the vibe, it was just like Quentin basically wrote a bunch of dialog and wanted an excuse to film some actors reading the lines.
P.S Kurt Russell=hilarious.
All in all definetly worth seeing but have some patience with the second half because it really does pay off.
Doing projection and then watching Grindhouse also makes me giggle due to all the projectionist in-jokes and references, especially during the credits.
Came home and found a message from Joel inviting me to Reflections tonight, wish I had gotten that message earlier probably would have been awesome time, oh well another day perhaps.
Tomorrow I have off and I have no idea what I'm going to do,I was thinking about going out to Bayers Lake, I have like 75$ in Future shop cards to blow, other than that I have noooooo idea, maybe see Blades of Glory or the Lookout.
Also if there's anything on for Friday night peoples let me know, I only have to work at the Oxford until 8.
That's all my news.....oh wait shit also one of the best parts of Grindhouse was that both Tom Savini and Michael Biehn are in it, if you know why they reek of awesomness then you're okay in my book.
