Well, yesterday was Valentine's Day and I did things right. For those of you who weren't sure, this is a holiday FOR women. Guys don't expect to get stuff, they are expected to give stuff. And if you're like me, you enjoy making it a special day for your special someone.
Yesterday I suprised Becci and her second grade classroom with two dozen roses, a card, and a valentine's day activity for the kids. She was suprised, and the kids were all giggling and "oooohh"ing. We had a lot of fun together. Especially Adam and I. He is one of Becci's ADD kids who is on a behavior chart and sits by himself next to Becci's desk. He kept leaning over to me saying, "Hey Mr. Fox, what was your favorite ________ as a kid?" That was during silent reading time. lol. He was pretty cool. And Michael, another boy, came up to tell me that he was getting expelled. I asked why, so he flashed me his biceps and said, "For having GUNS at school!" Hilarious. So anyway, for my activity they had to match up letters of the alphabet with the correlating numbers to spell out the secret valentine message to Ms. Wheat. When they all figured it out, I had them say it as a class: "When it comes to teacher's, no one's sweeter! Happy Valentine's Day Ms. Wheat!" I had a good time with it, and Becci thought it was sweet. After school was out she came over for dinner. I cooked Chicken Parmesan and it was excellent. I also had some nice Frank Sinatra playing off the xm satellite radio. Oh yeah. Then we went to premarital counseling. lol. Just what everybody expects to do on Valentine's Day. But hey, it was the scheduled day of the week. But that was a lot of fun, too. Just call me Mr. Romance.
Tip of the Century for the guys: it is important that you know I didn't spend the traditional V-Day rate on flowers. If I did, I would be out $140 (I called every "florist" in Lansing). That's just retarded, unless it's pocket change to you, but even still its retarded. Instead, I took my cue from the master himself, Mar-tay, who bought his 2 dozen for my mom for $20 at Sams Club. In fact, I beat his deal and got my 2 dozen for $18 at Wal-Mart. And they were nice looking flowers. Which just goes to show you guys, it's the thought that counts and you don't have to break the bank to tell her you love her.
On a side note, I would like to apologize to Joe "Rockjaw" Kylman for the persecution he faced in the comments of my last post. Don't hate him 'cause he's beautiful.
