I am also a big ol' fan of the Trio--especially in this book. But what I do like about Ginny is that I think she gets the Trio's relationship (sometimes more than they themselves do) & she doesn't force herself into it. She's a keen observer, I think, & she understands how terrifically important Ron & Hermione are to Harry, & don't ever see her being a jealous wife about that, which I think is cool.
Although was severely annoyed that there was no closure with Ginny. I am so not talking about the epilogue, pffffa, stupid thing. I mean at the end of the war, when Harry's going off with Ron & Hermione to talk to them--I'm glad Ginny wasn't with them, I don't think she should have been & I think she would be the first to admit that--but I really, really wanted a look between her and Harry before he left the hall. Not even talking, just one of those eye-contact "are you okay/are you okay/are we okay/okay, good" moments, if you know what I mean. It just screamed for that, & it wasn't there. Pshaw.

Also, um, YES on the vindication for Snape. The only time I really cried during the whole book was during that stupid epilogue, but just for when Harry said that Albus Severus was named for two headmasters, one of whom was from Slytherin & yet the bravest person ever. Oh, that got me. Also, I totally knew he was in love with Lily, & you're right--clinging to that makes much more sense for Snape to do than to cling to some abstract thing.

& yay for McG! She was badass. As was Neville, who has always been a favorite kid of mine. I was really happy that he killed the snake.

....I will stop rambling now...geez. :)

I was frustrated by Ginny's role, because it seemed she was so often on the verge of getting the chance to do something really cool, and then getting shunted off. I'm just still not convinced by her and Harry's relationship - it feels like a narrative convenience still, rather than a real passion between people. By contrast, I really believed in Ron/Hermione this time around - I got sold on that, on them having at last a real prickly but ardent courtship.

You're right about Ginny's understanding of the Trio, though. OK, I'm not theoretically opposed to OT4s anymore than OT3s (except 4ways w/incest - hard sell, man, hard sell. XD)

I was very moved by that too, in the epilogue. Though why does Harry always realize these things TOO LATE? Because he's human, that's why, I suppose. (I really do want to see fic with ickle A.S. having chats with his namesakes' portraits.)

Neville was MADE OF WIN, as he has been since PoA.

Oh, I was frustrated by Ginny's role too--I wanted her to do more, even though I know this was the Trio's Shining Glory...but still. Something.

Neville is always made of win. :D
