Sweet, Pretty Music

This all used to come so easily to me
I would sit down, place stubby fingers on knobby steel
Dirty Nails on slick necks
Humming melodies would come
And as they did, so did my love
well, it was more begging
'would you notice the words
To such simple chords?'

A minor
It's too little
too boring
not nearly complex as my mind is
I used this as a tool to catch your eye
But I'm not good enough

E Major
Too chirpy
Too simple

By why can't the old dream fit 4/4 time?
The one wher I would sing and
eventually you would toss your arms around me
and cover me with big sloppy kisses

C
Too idyllic.
Mere child's play

There are leaner men with meaner cuts
Complex thoughts to complex riffs

D# Minor
I can't do this now
four bars, four chords
verse-chorus-verse
It's not enough

Well, I won't be a rockstar and you won't be my loving side

Did you notice the words to such simple chords?
