Summary: Kairi is having a nightmare about that darkness and Axel comes to comfort her.
When Kairi woke up the first thing that she noticed was that she was covered in sweat. The second thing that she noticed was that it was dark. There was darkness all around her. She started to panic. Memories of her nightmare, of being consumed by darkness and lost forever started to come back to her. Kairi pulled the blanket tighter around her. “It’s alright,” she said to herself. “It was only a dream. Relax.” Kairi tried to relax and concentrate on her breathing, but it did little to help calm her nerves.
Suddenly she heard a noise. Kairi tensed up. She saw a flicker of light creep into her room as the door was opened. A figure walked in and closed the door; it was dark again. Kairi bit her bottom lip in an attempt not to make a noise. Maybe if I’m silent he’ll think no one’s here and leave. Kairi thought to herself.
All of a sudden she saw a beam of light hit the ceiling and then shine on her face. She lost control and screamed. Kairi flung the blanket over her head and tried to burry herself into the mattress.
“Kairi,” the man said teasingly. She knew that voice. She peeked her head out from under the blankets and immediately she knew whom that smirking man standing beside her bed was.
“Axel,” she growled, her voice now sounding angry instead of scared. “You scared me!” She exclaimed as she sat up.
He dropped the flashlight on to her bed. “Here,” She picked up the flashlight and gave him a confused look. “I heard you screaming about the darkness,” he answered. Kairi blushed. She hadn’t realized that she had been so loud in her sleep or that she was even screaming at all. Axel smirked and turned to leave when Kairi reached out and took hold of his arm.
“Wait!” she said. He turned around and looked at her. “Do you think you could stay?” Axel opened his mouth and was about to reject her wish but instead, to her surprise, gave a slight nod. He closed a mouth and with a sigh got into bed with her. “Hey!” Kairi exclaimed.
“What?” Axel questioned, the irritation at having been waken up in the middle of the night clear in his voice. “I’m tired, and if you want me to stay I’m sleeping in the bed.”
Kairi glared at him before realizing that he was not about to move any second. With a sigh she sunk back into the covers, and turning her back to him, fell asleep. This time she didn’t have any more nightmares, even if she was dreaming about a certain red haired bastard.
