I`ve just had the bisarest telephone call ever
Ok so I`ve been running still and I even made it through the summer. It`s about time I get some proper shoes. I want to get them fitted, found a jap shop that has computers and a custom in sole service.
See I was just thinking I could just pop down on the sun or nat vataion mon no big deal. Maybe even a cancalation cos of the holiday.
I called at 10 in the morning, start time, they took my number and called me back. I get through to the running dept, when today and tommorow re muri he goes hmmm I`ll tranfere you.
[HOLD MUSIC]
Shoe girl: Sorry to keep you waiting, About your call it seems that today is a little full...
Me: How about tommorow??
Shoe girl: What time tommorow?
Me: Anytime is ok.
Shoe girl: Hrmm (looking through lists...) tomrrow looks fully booked too...urmmm....how about Wednesday?
Me: Wednesday? (I`d had a few) I`ll have to get my work schedual wait a moment........ok thursday I have work so I could only make an evening.
Shoe girl: But you said you could do any time?
Me: Well I can only do evenings when I have works.
Shoe girl: I`m really very sorry but our insole service stops at 3 or 4 in the afternoon....
Me; Well that means work days are out.
And we get into this big thing where she couldn`t understand why because I work I can only go on national holidays or weekends. Luckilly I have some NO sched work days about once a week so sometimes I can do weekdays!!!
Finally there`s this big log pause cos to her I don`t seem to be getting the simiplist things and I`m totally lost.
Me:.....I`m sorry, I`m a foriegner, can you speak simply? (the keigo had been killing me)
Shoe Girl: hai, moushiwake gozaimasu. (Yes I`m sorry in the most politiest shop speak possiple.)
Me: (rolling eyes) How about October?
Shoe girl: October what day...?
Me: How about 1st (one of my no sched work days)
Shoe girl: ....what time?
Me: Anytime.
Shoe girl: We can do you from 11am, is that ok?
me: OK!
Give me strength...and she starts getting into the appointment speel I`m just going yeah, yeah yeah. And then she explains a warning that to have custom inner soles with shoes brought there is 3000yen but to bring your own shoes to get custom insoles is 6000 yen...
Me:[a very long pause]...uh? (oh that wasn`t just a warning they need answer?)....look I just want to get a fitting for shoes and then an insole done...
Shoe girl: Yes... (slowly as if it wasn`t the asnwer she was hoping for.)
Me:...well hai then. (when in doubt say hai)
This appointment making call took 15 mins! There were many blind allies of idiocy. and 2 weeks?? So much for popping along and buying some new running shoes.
