I have been speaking with an old friend on Facebook. We hung out a lot during our later teen years and early 20s. I always thought she was pretty, and always wanted to date her. I wanted so bad to be her boyfriend. But...I am just so damned shy. Turns out she wanted to be my girlfriend, but thought I wasn't interested.
A tremendous lost opportunity because she was just such an amazing girl.
Being shy sucks. I'm still painfully shy today. I hate it.
In other news...2010 has not been the best so far. I'm burnt toast right now. So many obligations have been placed upon my shoulders for the past two months or so, and frankly...I'm just plain out of enthusiasm and spirit. I was at the point of quitting the chamber. Fortunately, we have hired a new president who officially starts on March 1. This comes as a tremendous relief.
It goes beyond all the stuff I'm doing. There's been a great deal of not seeing eye-to-eye among several of us on the board, and I'm frankly growing very tired of their attitudes and opinions. Here I am busting my ass trying to keep the ship floating and they're bitching about it.
I've always had the motto, "give until it feels good". Lately, it's been anything but feeling good. Our new president is an amazing man, and he has agreed to step in and mediate things. This is a good thing, as I'm on the verge of wanting to wring a few necks. To say I'm frustrated would be a major understatement. It's not like my critics are willing to step in and do it all.
I've already sacrificed too much. I lost the chance to have a relationship because I'm always so damned busy. I have put my adoption on hold because of all of this. I've spent countless hours filling in for what the president of the chamber would normally do. And what do I get? I get a bunch of bullshit coming my way.
Anyway...enough of that.
I'm just disappointed with a lot right now. I hate being shy, and I hate the fact that a person who wanted to be closer to me and I wanted to be closer to her never happened because I'm so fucking shy.
I need a break. I think when the weather gets nicer, I'm going to get on my motorcycle and disappear for a week. Sometimes I guess one needs to fall to come back stronger. Well, I'll crawl through this mess and find my way again.
Did I mention being shy sucks? Yeah. Well, it does!
Enough for now. I promise I'll be more upbeat next time.
