Hello Again!

Jan 19, 2010 20:45

I really should start posting more often. We’re 19 days into 2010 and this is only my second real post and third overall. I just haven’t been much in a writing mood lately, I suppose. Part of the reason for this is that I’ve just been so…as usual…busy!

I had a great weekend this past weekend. And yes, it was a busy one from start to finish. Attended a party Friday night. Then got up early Saturday to get some birthday presents ready.

On Saturday night, I attended the YMCA Strong Kids campaign kick-off. That was a lot of fun. We had great food, great drinks, and even I participated in the dancing. The neatest thing for me was watching all the kids. They had a blast!

I was up early on Sunday to join my “Black Family” for breakfast. I ended up staying for a long time, and in doing so put my domestic skills to use and cleaned up their entire kitchen. Living alone, I have very few dishes. Toures has six adopted children. That’s a house of eight. Add in some other kids that were dropped off and a few relatives that spent the night and I was doing a LOT of dishes. Crazy as it may sound…I enjoy house work.

My “Mexican Family” has a birthday dinner every month for the people who have birthdays during the month…kind of do everyone at once. This month was Emily (turned 17 today); me (turning 47 on the 30th); and Sarah turning 79 on the 29th. The party was held Sunday evening. Here we are at the party…

Living alone means  living in a very quiet atmosphere. Being at Rosie’s house for these parties always means being surrounded by a lot of kids and a lot of noise. Here are some more pictures…

Anyway…lots of other stuff going on. The chamber banquet is this Thursday. Take a look at the program for the night. Yeah, I’m doing a lot!

Still working on all the logistics for the traveling Vietnam Wall memorial. This is really a lot more work than I’d anticipated…and I anticipated it to be a lot. I’m told to expect a crowd double that of what I’d anticipated. I already have begun booking schools for field trips. It’s going to be a great thing. It’s just a lot of work right now.

I created a Facebook page. Stop by and say hi!

That’s all for now!
