Quickie For Now
Okay, okay…so I haven’t made an entry in….okay…awhile. So, I’ll make a quick one now and a real one later.
The weekend before last was fun. Blade and I went to San Antonio. My niece, Ashley, went with us. The plan was to be down there for a couple of hours or so. We left his house at 8:00 in the morning. I got home at about 11:00 that night.
It was a fun day. More details on that later.
Today will be, if I remember correctly, the 66th day of 2009 in which we will reach at least 100 degrees. With the next week forecasting every day above 100 degrees, we’ll be well beyond the record of 69 days before long.
It’s HOT! And folks, we’re setting record highs left and right. We hit 105 the other day. Most days it’s 102 or 103. It’s really a bit ridiculous.
We’re also in an extreme drought. I see what were once bodies of water that are now just big empty holes in the ground. With the outside temperatures like an oven, everything looks baked. Seriously. Stuff looks literally cooked. My yard literally looks as if it had caught fire and burned.
We did have a storm blow in yesterday. And what a storm. There was debris all over town. Trees were blown down, windows were blown out, power went out, and even at work a door on the side of our building was blown completely out. My property fortunately suffered no major damage. We got some rain, but it didn’t last long.
The workers are coming this weekend to paint the inside of my house. Next weekend, the flooring will be installed. I’m looking forward to that. My house is a bit of a mess right now, as I’ve taken everything off the walls and have moved furniture around in preparation for the paint. I’m used to a perfectly neat, tidy house. Not enjoying the mess, but it’s worth it.
