So a week into teaching I think I've actually managed to get a hang of this whole teaching thing. In other words, some schools are much much better than others at actually making a schedule and sticking to it as well as actually having a plan in mind for class and then sticking to it. It's frustrating at times, but I think my general approach to this is just going to be to kind of sit back and let things happen. If I get the chance to make suggestions and do my own things, I'm going for it, but if I don't, I'm just going to let it roll off of me.
Japan shall be a lesson in zen, and I think it will be a good thing overall. I could use some more chill in my life.
I'm also slowly sort of coming into it with my fellow JETs in the area. It's really nice because there's two of them that live in the same building, but I've just not been in the right frame of mind for socializing lately but that! That shall change! We have the Kameoka Matsuri this weekend which promises to be full of awesome fun and chill times. I'm also going to join the taiko group that two other JETs participate in and I'm definitely thinking about one of my fellow JETs how she got into aikido because physical exercise is always A+++
Similarly with my schedule finally simmering down to a degree I'm definitely getting back into the swing of things RP wise. Moontime is a bit weird to adapt to, and the fact that my schedule changes day to day definitely doesn't help maters, but I think I've managed to figure out a schedule that should work out and still allow me to thread pretty often, make posts, and maybe even app those couple of characters that I've been thinking of picking up.
I've also hacked out a schedule for writing and discovered an excellent location for the endeavor (namely, the Mister Donuts in town) So with any luck by Monday of next week I can finally get around to returning my attention to Sherlock fics, my original project and the like. And if nothing else, spending a lot of my nights in should definitely help me with the goal of studying for the JLPT 1 while I'm here so! That plan is falling into place well!
And. Wow. I have babbled a lot. But in short, THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER. Two years is still a length of time that seems a little bit terrifying right now, but I have a plan, I can stick to it, and I think I'll definitely get what I wanted out of the JET program so FUCK YEAH.
