057 [Action]

[The last day of fighting.  It's been going on for so long now, and it's been a state of constant battle since it started for Adell.  He's been fighting almost every waking hour so others didn't have to, stopping only to eat and sleep when he was running low on energy.  By now, his body's getting pretty tired.

But things aren't over yet, and the ( Read more... )

Adell!

[Lyn doesn't know who this woman is, nor does she really have much experience with guns, but what she does know is that her friend is being attacked. So here she comes, rushing to his defense.]

[The voice catches him off guard as he stares down his foe. He quickly looks over his shoulder to where it came from...]

Lyn?!

Be careful, she's powerfu--

[And it's here Rozalin takes a shot at him. A blue beam streaks from the weapon and hits Adell in the chest, a blow he recoils from.

However, the wound doesn't seem to slow him down much. After a grunt of effort, Adell throws himself toward Rozalin in an attempt to land a punch and keep her attention focused on him.]

[She curses mentally when she sees him shot, blaming herself for distracting him.]

Don't worry about me! She has to hit me to hurt me!

[And evading blows is something Lyn is good at. She might not know the weapon Rozalin is using, but if she can dodge arrows (and she can) she can dodge that. She charges in from the side, not yet summoning Kipinn to speed her footsteps. She'll save some of her special tactics.]

[Rozalin, now dealing with Adell to the fore and Lyn coming in from the side, now has to play defensive. Or rather, use a move to put her out of harm's way. And Adell's presenting a pretty good target, isn't he?

A purple glow forms at the barrel of her weapon, and a massive discharge of energy gets launched at Adell, hitting him, and exploding on impact. The sheer force of the blast sends Rozalin back several yards, hopefully giving her a better vantage point to shoot at both of them.

...Adell himself, when the smoke clears, looks singed, but still fight capable. ...He's made of some pretty tough stuff, if nothing else.]

[Despite what she knows about Adell's capabilities, Lyn is still very worried when that blast hits him. But she knows, more than anything, that she can't afford to be distracted in a fight. It could easily lead to death. So she just alters her course to rush straight past Rozalin's right side after she stops skidding.

Knowing that if she runs with her usual speed, she'll be all too good of a target, Lyn decides now is a good time to bring the spirits into things. As Adell emerges from the smoke she summons a bit of Kipinn to her feet while she runs, multiplying her speed by a good amount. She rushes past like a blur and extends her sword for a quick and vicious slash at Rozalin's torso.]

[Rozalin isn't quite fast enough to evade away from that strike. Though it would've certainly been a telling blow against an unarmored human, this demon woman is much tougher than she first appears. She does recoil away in pain, however.

...So instead of messing around further, Rozalin leaps back, and several orbs of light form around her... which she deftly uses as stepping stones as she fires a barrage of energy blasts toward both Lyn and Adell.]

[Lyn mentally curses when she sees those coming. She can dodge some of those blasts, even most of them, but there's no way she can avoid all of them.

Fortunately, she's still got her contact with Kipinn. Thinking as quickly as she moves, she calls up a shield of air to redirect the blasts. It works... sort of. The wind does misdirect the attacks but they're too strong and moving too fast for her to deflect them entirely. She's caught on the edge of several of the blasts, particularly on her arms and legs, and while it's much less painful than being hit directly, it still causes her to wince and stagger backwards, bruises and burns beginning to form.]

[The remainder of the Shooting Stars head for Adell, and most of them strike true. Rozalin is an impeccable shot, and the bouncing array of bullets are nearly impossible to evade completely.

Undeterred, Adell leaps into the air and aligns himself on a collision course with the hologram. A quick twist in the air, and he flings himself like a missile toward her, feet first. Along the way his legs burst into flame, turning him into a fireball. His feet find their mark and a wave of fire spreads around the impact point.

The blow rocks Rozalin back, dazing her and injuring her obviously.]

[The power unleashed by that attack is nothing less than astounding to watch, but Lyn refuses to let her focus be broken. With Rozalin reeling, now is the perfect time to go for broke.

Calling up Tsinku, she wraps the energies of the lightning and the wind spirits around her sword and crouches down for a split second in concentration, and then... moves.

The attack is at the absolute limits of her capabilities. From the perspective of even a trained fighter, it seems as if Lyn is there one moment, then the next, five of her appear and surround Rozalin, then strike.]

[Adell watches as the five visions of Lyn appear around Rozalin and all strike at once. ...He's willing to bet only one is the real one, like his Tiger Charge, or maybe she's moving just that fast. He can't tell easily in that brief instant.

But that lightning fast attack causes the hologram to cry out in pain, and become visibly bloodied; Rozalin begins breathing heavily but is still on her feet, and she quickly fades back to put a few yards of distance between them.]

Be careful, Lyn! She's up to something...

[She's very pleased with the damage she managed to inflict with that attack, but there's a problem now. Usually, her enemies aren't still standing after a blow like that. And she's all too aware that she's now wide open, her legs protesting even the slightest movement after that display.

She goes into a defensive position, crouched down with her sword braced across herself, even though she knows full well that defense is not her forte. She doesn't really have much of a choice. If Rozalin decides to attack her before she can recover, this is all she can do.]

[...It's more like she decides to attack both of them.

The gloves are off now. She's been hurt, and reasonably at that. The hologram lets off a haughty, noble's laugh... before she leaps high into the air...

Adell's eyes grow wide. He knows what's coming.]

Lyn! Run! Now!!

[She has no idea what that laugh and jump could mean, but she knows it can't be good...

And Adell's yell galvanizes her into action. Her legs scream in protest, but she turns and runs away from Rozalin as fast as she possibly can nonetheless.

Eyes wide, she shouts at Adell as she runs.]

What is she doing?!!

[Adell intentionally puts himself between Lyn and Rozalin as they run... but Adell doesn't have time to answer. As they bolt away, streams of red energy begin to build around Rozalin's pistol, and as they cascade around it... she points it toward the ground...

A massive column of fire erupts from the barrel, plummeting toward the ground. Upon impact, the column of fire explodes into searing heat and fire at its point of impact, sending waves of flame around it nearby. And where the blast hit... the column of fire now erupts skyward into the shape of a cross...]

[If Lyn hadn't seen it she wouldn't have believed it herself. The blast is extraordinary, unreal, terrifying. The fire reaches towards her even as she runs, and all she can think of is outrunning it.

She trips at the outset of the blast radius, evading the flames but not the concussive blow, and gets sent rolling end over end. She manages to tuck into a ball to lessen the impact, but nonetheless picks up a bunch of new bruises, and deep ones.]
