[Voice]

Hey, citizens of Luceti.  My name's Adell, and I'm Captain of the Blue Rogues.   Some of you out there might be unfamiliar with the group, so allow me to explain who we are and our purpose in this village.   We were founded by Captain Vyse, and we are an organization dedicated to the defense of the people of Luceti and exploring the unknown ( Read more... )

[Adell brings up a map of the village, and circles the building.]

Right there, at the southern end of the village.

I shall be there shortly.

[And he'll be waiting there for her to arrive, reading his book, but keeping an eye on the door, as he knows a potential recruit is coming.]

Oh, that's right. I am called Sveta... I would like to learn more about your organization.

[... which is why she is trying to mind read it out of you now.]

Hey Sveta. It's nice to meet you. Well, the Rogues are pretty much what I described over the journal, at any rate, but what would you like to know specifically?

[His description is pretty accurate, and from whatever Sveta can read from his mind, he's definitely telling the truth.]

What sort of threats are we expecting to fight?

Well, that usually varies. Last major thing we fought in the village was a bunch of monsters that rained from the sky. And those were... well, a collection of whatever you can imagine. Most common threats are just individuals who are looking to hurt the villagers because they can.

...But the biggest threat that we're most worried about is a group called the Third Party who exist outside the barrier. They're a bunch of winged humanoids who can fly, have shifting powers, and are hellbent on wiping out everyone that's not them. The barrier keeps them out, but they managed to get inside once sometime in the past, before I arrived here. They're also the foes we battle if we're called up for a draft.

I see... In that case, I would like to join your organization.

Excellent! Now, if you wouldn't mind telling me a little about yourself and the sort of skills you have? It makes it easier to determine what role you'd be best at when things got real.

... Are things not real normally?

I possess an ability known as Psynergy, as well as having the power of the Beastman race. I am able to use wind and lightning, as well as read spirits.

...It's an expression. "Things getting real" means that things have gone from either okay or bad to worse.

Sounds good. Sounds like you've got a very well rounded set of skills.

As for your duties for the Rogues... you'd be expected to attend the meetings we hold about once a month, keep a reputation befitting a member of a defense organization, and be ready to help on a moment's notice. All pretty easy things to do. If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to answer them.

Oh, I see.

Is there a place we are expected to stay?

Nope. You can live wherever you want to in the village.
