I'm shocked there are no comments for this! It may be short, but it packs quite the emotional punch in the way you describe Ace's thoughts on Luffy's hero worship of Shanks and the inevitable 'win' that Ace can foresee when it comes to down to it. Because while Luffy would refuse to join his brother's crew, he most certainly will keep his promise to Shanks and you portray that well without even trying!

The hints of pairings are very subtle and hardly impact the meaning of the story, nice work! I enjoy reading pieces like this, with that undercurrent of jealous or envy that influence one's motives. Thanks for writing and sharing this!
