My coworker Bill asked me yesterday if I wanted to go down and see the Nationals play the Reds Saturday night. Since I haven't been down to the Nationals stadium yet, I decided why not. I'm not really a fan of either team, but Bill (being from Ohio) is a Reds fan. We never actually made it up to our 400 level seats way in they sky because we found this cool bar area behind the 200 level outfield seats where we could sit at the bar and see the field. Actually, we would sit in the last row of the 200 level seats. The usher checked everyone's tickets for that section, but for some reason decided not to ask us.
After one game, I really wish we had the National stadium here in Baltimore. They had all kinds of food vendors, and the outdoor bar and tons of stuff to do. There was a 5 Guys, a Red Hot and Blue, good Italian sausage and kielbasa stands although all of it was a bit overpriced. But still, much better than the choices at Camden Yards.
We lucked out with the rain. When we got out of the metro before the game, it was pouring. But it cleared up just before the game started. The seats we grabbed were under a nice cover so we didn't have to worry about it. As for the game, the Reds lead most of the game 6 to 2, but then the Nats scored 8 times in the seventh and eighth innings.
Afterwards, the entrance to the Navy Yard Metro stop was a mob scene, but we surprisingly got onto a train pretty quickly, and even got seats. Of course, within two stops, there was a transfer to 3 other lines, so the train emptied out.
