The Interview

Feb 08, 2008 10:10

First, I am going to say I really doubt I got the job.

There were 4 people interviewing me. There were 10 or 12 questions, and each of them would ask a question in turn. They were not allowed to talk to me other than to ask the question that was written down. They were not allowed to elaborate or explain. All they could do was repeat a question or tell me if I hadn't answered all of it. Most of the questions had several parts, so I had to take notes on each question to make sure I answered all of the parts.

The questions ranged from explain risk management and what are some examples of how you managed risk to when have you had to deal with a difficult coworker. Give an example of how you handled it badly and an example of how you handled it well. That was the hardest question for me since I have never really had any difficult coworkers.

The worst part of the interview was that one of the guys could hardly speak English. It was so broken up and he was reading these long multi part questions, and would skip lines ever time he looked up from his page.

The best part was that the deputy PM, Donna, whom everyone is terrified of and calls Dragon Lady, was smiling and friendly. She never smiles at anyone. She doesn't even like anyone. But for years, I have been convinced that she actually likes me. Actually, other people have mentioned that to me as well. They say how it is odd that she will actually smile at me or joke around with me in the hallway. (One co-worker says it is because she doesn't yet know how much of a slacker I am)

Anyway, hopefully they will make a decision and call me to let me know one way or another sometime soon.
