I flew down to Ft. Walton Beach for my second time this fall. I was planning on spending the weekend down there, but since my parents were flying to Amsterdam on Sunday and they were trying to get my grandparents house ready to rent out before leaving, I decided I should help out.
Friday was spent moving the last of all of the junk and old furniture out. We managed to get a lady off of craigslist who was willing to haul all of the junk away for free as well as the good washing machine and queen bed set and whatever furniture she wanted to keep.
Since my parents were flying out of Washington Dulles, I made my travel arrangements to match theirs and flew out of Dulles as well. By the time I got down to Florida, I was completely sick, having picked up whatever cold my mom and dad had. Because of this, I didn't get out to the beach once. In fact, I spent most of my time in Florida in bed. I got out to the work site only long enough to teach the class I was there to teach.
This morning, on my flight home, my first leg was Ft. Walton to Atlanta, then on to Dulles. My flight to Atlanta left 30 minutes late, and then was stuck on the tarmac in Atlanta for a good 15 minutes because some other plane was in our gate. This caused me and 3 other passengers to just barely make it to the Dulles plane. In fact, the gate agent was already calling us by name. Of course, we were the 4 people that didn't have bags in Dulles. Now, the guy said our bags were on the next plane to Dulles. This worked for the other 3 people, because the airline would just deliver it as soon as it got in. But when the agent found that I lived north of Baltimore, he said my bag would have to be sent back to Atlanta, and then flown to Baltimore, and delivered from there. This was all around 11:30 this morning. Now, it is 9:15, and I have not heard from the airline. What are the chances that my bag makes that trip without getting lost?
Anyway, I am here through Sunday, when I head out to Utah for a week. After that, I am home for a week, then back to Florida for 2 weeks. Home for 5 days, then off to San Francisco for 10 days. Then off to the Europe for the rest of the year :)
