WTF Is It?

Several days ago I shooed this insect out of my truck. I really hate killing insects, so I attempt to "set them free" whenever possible. After quite the epic battle involving a broom, opening both doors and it making a beeline for my face, I successfully got this thing out of my truck unharmed. I have no clue what it is, but after a google search, I think it might possibly maybe/maybe not be a Robber Fly. (DON'T CLICK THE LINK IF BUGS CREEP YOU OUT, HUGE PICTURE)If it is, then I'm glad I didn't kill it since they like to eat the big nasty horseflies.

So, does anyone know
