Slow and Steady Wins the Race

May 21, 2009 23:49

We came in dead last in the race last night. We were 4 actual minutes behind the first place boat, but on adjusted time we were 7 minutes behind. The third and fourth place boats were 3 and 4 minutes behind us, but 20 and 9 seconds in front of us on adjusted time. And the boat my dad's friend was fucking around with? He beat us across the line by 56 seconds and with adjusted time was 1 minute and 25 seconds ahead. If there's a next time that the guy is at the helm, I'm either staying ashore or hopping on another boat.

In good news, our Assistant COO races as well. He has a C&C 40 that he races out of Annapolis. He told me that if I ever wanted to race on a Friday night I'm more than welcome! I just might have to take a Friday off and take him up on that offer.

Linus is looking better every day. I am now a firm believer in Alam and Red Cell. This weekend he's getting a bath and I'll snap a few photos of his progress. I don't want to jinx myself, but maybe he'll be in good enough shape to ride in a month. Maybe I can even get the Stubben fitter out before winter...

On Saturday I'm hoping to go on a trail ride with Jessica. Apparently there are lovely trails at their new place, and the horses are good trail mounts. I'll either ride Meindert, a gelding, or Julio's mare, Midnight.

I still need to post the pictures and videos of last weekend. And a summary of the WUAS open house. I'll get to it eventually.
