So, I've graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Virginia Tech. I've moved home, with all my stuff except necessary clothes in boxes still. I've left Blacksburg with little pomp or circumstance, and I feel that half of my friends don't know I'm not returning. I got a laptop as a graduation gift. I'm using it now, and it's wonderful.
Jobwise, I'm happy. I applied to a few places after my last exam. I got some tips from my professors regarding resumes and theatrical companies. I prepared for a lot of rejection and sent out applications to places far and wide, and some close to home. I visited a puppet company, Rainbow Puppets, at an elementary school, and things are looking good for me to join them as a part-time puppeteer. Right after I left them, I got a call from Colonial Williamsburg, and I got an appointment to audition for their production of Othello. I went there that night, read my parts, and hoped for the best but expected a polite phone call 3 days later. I got a call around noon the next day, and I was offered the role of Rodorigo in Othello, with the run lasting from March to Novemberish. I immediately drove out and did my paperwork and drug test. Woohoo!
So, I have no room. "My Room" is now my sister's room, as her room has no bed. We gave her bed to my cousin and her kid in New Jersey. The other room, "The bunny room," is having the bunny mural painted over in blue and gray (my choice). When that's done, the boxes of house stuff are moved off of the boxes of my stuff, and we begin to clear Kelsey;s room out for a bed.
Friends, I plan to journal more now that I'm basically separated from people who I can call my peers. I've yet to meet the people I'm working with, that will be Jan 2nd for a fight call. then, I have a read-through on the 3rd. My plan for the next few days includes lunch with Megan in Williamsburg, Christmas at home, day after Christmas at home since we planned our trip to New Jersey on me having a read-through on the 26th (didn't happen). We are going up to NJ to visit my Grandparents, cousins, nephew, and other assorted distant but close relations. Then we will go see "History of America, Abridged, The Encore performance" at York Co. School of the Arts. New years and beyond? Apart from work, i don't know. But, I look forward to whatever it brings.
