Well, Today was fun. I woke up to my muffled cell phone alarm only to discover that i had forgotten to set my desk clock. So, I got ready and went to Arts Management. Once again, no text neccisary, and strangely enough, we are required to keep a journal of our thoughts and reflections on arts management questions/opportunaties. One of the things i hope to gain from the class is a better understanding of how successful projects are able to stay successful in the not-for-profit theatre. I know Peninsula Community Theatre started small and just merged with another theatre to survive, then slowly slowly built up a market. When my family got there, we witnessed the boom of subscribers after a really great season which in turn attracted better tallent and then resulted in more subscribers. Another thing to keep my eye on is the new Richmond proffesional theatre company. They may need help. Hmmm....

As the class went on, snow started coating the paths. I walked back, stopping by Cinnabon to grab a Classic Cinnabon. Then i thought wether or not i should write that in here, as it's kinda pointless. But who knows, in 10 years it might mean something.

So, I tried to find some roomy pants for Plab, but all i had were tight slacks(oxy morons), a loose pair of jeans(the syllabus said no jeans) and a comfortable though not as roomy pair of Khakis. I opted for the khakis. On my way to class, i stopped by Peddrew Yeats to reserve the Payne lounge.
Class for the most part was fun and informative. David went over the syllabus and explained the reasons and philosophies of the things we will study this semester. He then demonstrated the technique he reccomends for learning monologues. Lie on your back, hold the text above you, then read it word by word, breathing in and out with each new word. If a word suprises you, repeat it and play with it untill you own it. It's time consuming, but i still remember the line. It was from "Measure for Measure," "This is the point in which the king is strangely gone from hence."
Googling...
http://absoluteshakespeare.com/plays/measure_for_measure/a1s4.htm
"Lucio. This is the point.
The duke is very strangely gone from hence;"
Darnit, it was duke and i added a few words. Anyway, it will work if i could also see the sentences.
After Plab, i grabbed a BBQ sandwich from the grill and then chilled.
Since earlier today i copied a few MP3s from the network onto my compy, i'm listening to those now.

Eventually need to find some material for Plab and Shakespeare.
I also need to look up Publicly supported vs Privately supported arts for a debate later in Arts Marketing.

Tonight, I don't know. Might get a nap soon
Tomorrow, Japanese theatre, Hodat, Plab improvisation, and Shakespeare. Oh, i also need to get books. Books then nap.
