Living without a laptop has been harder than the life of a starving AIDS-ridden child with leprosy and a grand total of three fingers. That means I'm going to splurge and buy a laptop when the money I spend on this luxury could easily save the lives of many children, and I'm going to feel damn guilty about it, but do nothing to help those children. We all make these decisions, right? We choose to waste our time by watching TV instead of volunteering to help people in desperate need. Do you know how many lives I could have saved by not buying all these stupid clothes and instead spending that money on feeding the needy? Do you know how much political activism and change I could have tried to initiate instead of spending countless hours watching TV, fucking around, and writing on livejournal? One of the liberal egalitarian theories focuses heavily on maximizing the min, or improving the position of the least well off in society no matter the cost to the most wealthy. I've been subscribing more and more to this theory. Yes, libertarians will try to drill me for saying that it's a huge infringement upon the rights of the better off (fuck you milton friedman. you know what he said? he thinks the only reason to help the poor and make them unpoor is so that they're not an eyesore and a heavy stone in the hearts of the wealthy. screw him with something jagged). disclaimer: milton friedman is not representative of all libertarians. I know it's unfair and more importantly unrealistic to try to make all people equal, but why should someone be doomed to a life with a grape-sized stomach and constantly-infected sores with no hope of an improvement in their quality of life just because of where and to whom they were born? For some people to benefit from simple chance (the circumstances they were born into) is a great injustice, and immensly overshadows the relatively inconsequential "injustices" our court system tries daily to resolve. FUCK YOU CONSUMERIST SOCIETY. YOU KEEP WANTING MORE WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DO WITH SO MUCH LESS. If I were true to what I believe in and not a weakling, I'd give away all I own, drop out of college, and devote my life to the peace corps. It sucks that I'm not, and I still want to get that laptop, which I'm going to rationalize by saying that I'll put it towards my education, which I'll use to improve the world. bullshit.
anyone know any good laptops with a pentium M, 14" screen, 60+ GB HD, Windows XP Pro, and 512-1028 MB RAM?
whoops, I've slipped
