"I've Been Dead Longer than You've Been Alive, Mate."
it's raining like it never rains at home
sipping spirits from a past i can't let go of
even now i am never let alone
unless hopeless enough i fall in again
I want to know you
no man knows envy quite as i do
don't get me started please on forgotten memories
such things i would swear to
still i don't quite have the heart
it sank like an anchor
like the way i bear it on my arm
and you were the one flagship
i don't mind going down with
i would have stood on that far shore forever
don't you ever question that fact again
when i said i left you
i swear i didn't mean it
even though (and so)
when its over i'm last to know it
i want to tell you
i am as much a part of you as is water
and you see anger may well have kept me alive for this long
still truth be told i would rather have hoped
fire might keep men warm
through the eye of the storm
but then push comes to shove so did love
when push comes to shove
anger might keep passion its pet only so long
but so does love
i could've told you
(i know you well)
pride has always been the greatest sin
take it from an expert on hell
this is only a temporary repreive
trust me, life is only skin deep
i want to hold you
under the waves if only to show you
the other side of a life you won't face
if i can tell you a secret
this is not malice but mercy
and you haven't seen the depths of my charity yet
forever is easy
it's this moment which is killing me
i want to see you
under the skin where i have been waiting
to feel free
in all those little ways once only you made me
you put your hooks deep
cast netting beneath sweat and sence
we have been steadily drowning against the break ever since
you weighed anchor somewhere dug under
of course i was sinking off course ever since
and i know you
i want to love you
why won't you allow me
drowning is not dying and so what if she was?
life is not forever but what about us?
i still believe in saints of lost fire
so sure i see more than ships passing in night
my lips tasted much more than desire
distilled pure as heaven and promiced morning light
i tried to tell you
i want to rescue
syrens wail and i set sail you walk on
acting on orders sent from above
old pirates never die they return to the sea
water can keep you a float only so long
but if you ask me so does love
you always were more like the sky keeping guide over me
i wish to catch you
if ever you get thirsty
know i believe in you
myths and legends don't drink much but
if ever you find yourself minus compass or rudder
call on me
trust in love
lying like the earth
roaming with the wind
crawling like fire
i'm running like water
back to the mouth of the life i've imagined us
heroes of highest endless adventures
i want to touch you
if ever you want to get lost or be touched
call on this
(i am here)
trust in love.
