Title: That Way
Fandom/Pairing: Yuugiou; Seto Kaiba x. Mokuba Kaiba
Rating: G
Warnings: Slash resulting in a very slight allusion to incest.
Disclaimer: Yuugiou is copyright Kazuki Takahashi. Story is copyright V.S.
Notes: I've not written Mokuba since '04 and fool that I am, I decided to go from his POV. -.- This was supposed to be Seto x. Mokuba for
queen_of_r, but it rather turned out too vague to be really taken that way and I apologize very deeply for that.
T H A T W A Y
Seto said it wasn’t safe to leave the house without him. What had happened in Duelist Kingdom scared him (and Mokuba wasn’t going to lie, it had scared him too, and quite thoroughly) and he said he didn’t want anything like that to happen again. He said that people might get ideas, and what he didn’t say was implied, ‘You might get hurt again and I don’t want that.’
Mokuba thought it might have been his fault that Seto had gotten involved. No, he knew that. It was Yuugi’s fault that he’d gotten involved in the first place though, because Yuugi had been the one who had… Well, nevermind. That was too confusing.
Seto said Yuugi was a fake, but Mokuba wasn’t sure. It struck him that someone who was a fake wouldn’t have been able to defeat Pegasus, especially if Seto hadn’t been able to. Mokuba sometimes thought that Seto could do almost anything when he set his mind to it. The only drawback was that it had to be something Seto wanted. It wasn’t selfish of him, not really - he said he didn’t want to expend effort on something he considered useless.
That made sense, really it did. If something wasn’t going to affect you in a positive way or even at all, why should you try so hard to make it work?
… Seto said a lot of things that didn’t make perfect sense to him right now, but he knew they would if he kept thinking about it. Seto was a smart person; he knew what he was talking about and he cared for Mokuba very much. Mokuba knew that, because… he didn’t need a reason or a way to know. He just did.
Mokuba looked out the window and down the front lawn to the street, where cars kept driving by, a flash of colour then nothing. He wasn’t supposed to go to school right now, Seto said. He wasn’t supposed to go anywhere without Seto.
… Mokuba usually did what Seto said. It turned out better that way. He could hug Seto that way.
It hurt less that way.
