...This is what happens you have too much time on your hands :||||
▶ Red’s baseball cap was a birthday gift from his Dad when he turned eight; on first sight he took an instant liking to it, put it on, and didn’t take it off for the rest of the day. It’s a habit he’s kept up ever since. Wearing it always gives Red more of a measure of self-confidence - not that he’s lacking in one already, of course, but he thinks the hat just looks cool. It’s gotten to the point by now that he feels a bit weird when he’s not wearing it, if only because he can’t peer inconspicuously at taller people from beneath the brim of it when it’s not there.
▶ Though he’s unaware of it, Red inherited the itch of adventure from his Dad; the man traveled all around the Pokemon world as a part-time Trainer and researcher, and was thus absent from home for long periods of time. It never acutely bothered Red so much, granted - growing up, these stretches of absence struck him as perfectly normal, and only made him anticipate his homecoming even more - but he always wished the time they had together was longer. In Red’s opinion, they never had nearly enough time to play against each other on the NES, and Mom always looked a bit sad when he left.
▶ He’s okay with pretty much any food as long as it tastes good, but Red likes sandwiches best. They’re easy to store, carry around, and eat on the go…and you can put together all kinds of combinations, so they never get boring! But second to sandwiches are soups and broths.
▶ The first Pokemon he ever caught with a Pokeball was a male level two Pidgey on Route 002. He still likes to recall that moment quite fondly.
▶ After becoming Champion, Red returned home to Pallet Town immediately to see his Mom. Eventually he left again, with the resolution that he’d visit home more often from then on, but…he never did; he was just so busy. His Mom insistently assured him that she didn’t mind, that she was proud of his achievements, and that by all means he should focus on his travels and Champion duties…but Red always felt guilty about it all the same. Now that the world is destroyed, and he’ll never get a chance to visit home again, that guilt has been increased tenfold. And additionally Red is now overwhelmingly worried about his Mom - at the moment he subconsciously refuses to consider the notion that she might be gone, and instead hopes with all his heart that she’s found a refugee ship to stay in just like him.
He’s resolved that he’ll find her someday, when he’s gotten used to everything…he’ll track her down by himself if he has to, and once he does he plans to give her a big hug, apologize forever, and stay with her as long as she wants him to, no matter how bored he gets.
▶ For some reason, not too many things scare Red overtly - even visiting small, creepy Lavender Town and leaving with chills didn’t stop him from dropping by again of his own free will numerous times. That being said, however, one of the things he’s most afraid of is losing one of his Pokemon in death. He never quite got over that encounter with Blue in the Pokemon Tower :(
▶ Red cannot swim.
▶ He’s well aware that Pikachu is quite overdue for a Thunderstone, which would enable evolution into a powerful Raichu. But for some reason, Red just…can’t quite make himself get around to it. If asked, he’d idly pass it off by saying Pikachu is already too high in level for the evolution to have much benefit…but in truth, he’s very fond of the Pokemon’s small size and habits, which would change in the larger form of a Raichu. Pikachu is the only one in his party that’s small enough fit in a room without tearing it down if released from his Pokeball, after all.
▶ He finds it difficult to sit still for more than fifteen minutes at a time.
▶ He’ll eventually acknowledge the fact that, for some strange reason, people on the Thor aren’t accustomed to strangers dropping in their residencies unannounced. However, this understanding will never stop Red from wandering randomly into other people’s rooms anyway, because it’s a habit pretty much ingrained, and his curiosity never leaves him alone for long. Besides, the Player is always looking for extra items and tips! @.@
▶ Red is…pretty much physically incapable of backing down to anything he perceives as a direct challenge. No matter how silly or ridiculous it is, Red will take you on, because challenges are very srs bsns. 8|
▶ On that note, Red hates losing. Hate hate hates it. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a battle, a game, a bet, or a challenge - to him, failure is never ever an option, and is thus absolutely unacceptable. He will sulk and grumble and demand rematches and retries forever and ever if it happens, because he simply won’t feel satisfied with himself until he’s overcome and mastered that obstacle.
▶ Red’s favorite color is…red. His second-favorite color is yellow. And surprisingly, he doesn’t mind blue so much most of the time, as long as people don’t try to shove it onto him all forceful-like. >>;
▶ Red has never been given a formal education - his Mom taught him most of what he knows about reading, writing, basic mathematics, and so on so forth. As far as he’s aware, the only ‘schools’ he’s ever heard of are the sort for budding Pokemon Trainers, though he’s never gone to one of those either.
▶ He’s actually capable of running at a constant speed for as long as he wants to without getting too tired YAY RUNNING SHOES, but he doesn’t do it so often now. After all, bikes are so much faster, and running from one place to the next takes such a long time :V
▶ Red doesn’t talk much because everybody else usually does most of the talking for him, when it comes to conversation; he likes letting them have their chattering, and prefers listening over speaking, because he’s not that great at finding the right words to express himself in speech anyway. Red’s…completely unaware that this makes him look shy and reserved - though even if he ever found out that it does, he would vehemently deny both assumptions with some disgruntlement…and continue toting his ellipses anyway.
▶ Conversely, he tends to start speaking slightly more when it comes to subjects of his own expertise, like raising and training Pokemon - comfortable comfort zone is very comfortable.
▶ For the longest time Red had an Espeon in his team - trading it out for Lapras was one of the hardest decisions he’d ever made. He knows it was necessary for efficient travel and Type diversity, but he still feels a bit guilty about it a lot of the time. …Such is the life of a Pokemon Trainer.
