i've heard of swarms of locusts but this was awful
one bug ate my house.
they're listing it as "act of God" in the insurance report but i dont know i am still in shock
Melanoplus spretus, the 'rocky mountain locust' was supposed to be extinct
but i guess some of them have taken to the crops in the nortern and northwestern CT area crops.
either way they got into my basement and damaged the foundation bad enough (pictures soon) that the house is sinking and we need to have some contractor come in and see if it can be rebuilt or if we can "move the house onto a new foundation"
the only reason anyone thinks/knows it was that bug is because they found one carcass in some of the crumbled concrete. all that damage and only one casualty in their whole swarm.
