The first part is here
:DDD !
Tomorrow takes far too long to happen, but it comes.
Junsu is early but Yoochun is earlier. He is sitting alone prettily at a table for two and puffing lazily on a cigarette.
He beckons to Junsu.
Junsu is nervous. Although he's braced himself for this huge moment of crossing the author-character border, he's still not entirely confident. It has, after all, never happened before. He's quite perplexed regarding how to start a proper conversation. But there's something warm about the way Yoochun's gazing at him. It is going to be a nice experience, probably better than he's ever imagined.
He hastily pays for his mocha, takes bold strides to Yoochun and passes him a creased (he's only been fiddling with it for the entire night!) dollar bill.
Yoochun's eyes are sparkling with amusement and he motions to Junsu to sit down.
"Hello. I'm Junsu," Junsu barely whispers.
Yoochun smiles reassuringly, nods, and (it seems like forever before he) replies, "Pleased to finally meet you."
The conversation that ensues is rather light-hearted. They chatter about the weather (it's been rainy and humid lately), favorite types of drinks (mocha for Junsu and Yoochun has no preferences), how lovely the cafe is (it has quite a posh ambience but it still always feels welcoming).
Junsu discovers that chatting with Yoochun is nothing short of pleasant, with Yoochun listening intently as he rambles on nervously. Yoochun is also good at saying appropriate things to fill in any potentially awkward silences. Whenever Junsu looks down and fiddles with his mocha cup, napkin, or whatever's available, Yoochun very naturally brings something else up and instantly makes him feel at ease.
These incidences have become a routine that (he thinks) he looks forward to. He meets with Yoochun daily - neither of them actually schedules an appointment with the other but he always assumes, or actually, knows that Yoochun will be there, early, and waiting for him. Topics of their conversations range from random trivia to current affairs, philosophical ideals, and slightly-more-personal tidbits. After a (short? long? Junsu can't truly tell - time automatically speeds up whenever he's with Yoochun) while, they are interrupted by the arrival of Yoochun's date-for-the-day and Junsu retreats to his dark corner. He continues to observe and note (Yoochun suavely seducing and then kissing his pretty lady).
Junsu treasures each and every one of these incidences but for some reason he can't savor them fully. It's becoming increasingly painful at the end, when he watches them lock lips. He reckons this is because there’s the question of whether it's love and whether she is the one for Yoochun because if Yoochun loves her for real, it might be goodbye for them and he knows very well that he will miss these aimless but insightful conversations with Yoochun…
And the reason? He supposes it’s due to his having revelation after revelation! It’s nearly as if Yoochun is writing me, in a way, Junsu decides. Yoochun does not obviously prompt him in anyway but somehow Junsu's compelled to define and reveal more and more of his opinions, thoughts, and then emotions as the days go by. He feels more and more like his own Junsu and less and less like an author-creator. It is as simple as that…
It's during one of those near-awkward moments when Junsu's unable to think of anything to chatter about that Yoochun asks, "So… What are you writing anyway?" (He adopts a cute lilt that makes Junsu feel giddy all over.)
"Characters. Romance stories." Junsu feels silly instantly upon replying. It does momentarily cross his mind that Yoochun must have noticed him some point before.
"Characters? Don't tell me - am I one of them too?" Yoochun half mocks rather knowingly.
Junsu doesn't know how to answer him so he just shakes his head awkwardly and tries to slurp at his near-empty cup of mocha.
Yoochun simply stirs his English Breakfast Tea, takes a long drag off his cigarette and doesn't question any further.
Their first real uncomfortable silence.
This is the first time that Junsu is a bit thankful when Yoochun's date makes her appearance.
It looks like all is forgotten the next day when they meet again.
They somehow manage to carry out a particularly engaging conversation about hobbies which eventually results in yet another awkward moment.
This time Junsu takes more than a little bit of initiative. He fumbles a little with himself and asks about the very thing that's been troubling him all this while, “Do you even love them?”
He is deliberately vague, but he knows Yoochun comprehends.
“Well, when we’re kissing and.....” Yoochun’s voice trails off, “...I do. It doesn’t matter.” He takes a sip of latte.
"How can that be? Don't you want to love? And be with your true love..." Junsu is a little outraged and disappointed. This does not make any sense to him.
"It doesn't matter..." Yoochun reiterates in a manner that's firm but still far from condescending, "...I'm just trying out new and different things. It does not mean it has to be love."
Junsu's mind goes into a whirl - his notions of conceptualized romance and life blink into oblivion - just as Yoochun's new pretty girl appears next to him and nods (a not-so-subtle hint that Junsu should get going). Yoochun gives him a soft smile as they part.
The world he's always known is disappearing fast like he's somehow known it would. It bothers him, but he is not shattered.
The next day, Junsu is apprehensive about meeting Yoochun at first. Fortunately, he does meet him and the same familiar sequence of events happen in just about the same order. Time flies by as his lovely conversation with Yoochun goes on and before Junsu realizes, it's time for lunch.
"Well, where's your date for today? Shouldn't she be here by now?" He really does not want to bring it up but he can't help but feel curious.
Yoochun makes a slow exhale. He then shrugs (almost) nonchalantly and replies, "Today I'd like to try something new and be your date. Will you too?"
Try something new goes on repeat in Junsu's head. Yoochun’s words are eerily echoing his innermost thoughts. Isn’t that that's exactly what he has been trying to achieve and, actually, still tries to achieve and... Yoochun's implications? For a moment it's as though everything but Yoochun and their little table is merging into an indistinguishable blur - intoxicating cigarette smoke, cafe aromas, busy-people sights and sounds around somehow all fuse together and somewhat fade away.
"Does it mean we... lov- ...kiss at the end..." Junsu blurts and he's surprised it's more of an assertion than a question.
He quickly attempts to hide his face behind his mocha cup.
Yoochun's eyes are twinkling. He mouths "Maybe." But Junsu can feel Yoochun's face getting closer and closer by the instant and he closes his eyes half expectantly.
Yoochun's lips are as soft as they look. He tastes like ash mostly, with a tinge of mocha.
END. FLAMES, thoughts & comments are appreciated! :D or :'(?
