Writing angst...

So now Rain Dragon is pretty much finished on my flashdisk (if not entirely uploaded to FFnet), my attention's begun to twitch back towards the dreaded Byakko fiction, Hakuinden.

I hate leaving things unfinished. I really really hate it. And, re-reading over bits of what I'd written already for part two, I think it would be a shame if I ditched it as it is and didn't try and get to a conclusion. Not all of the Seishi have been introduced, after all, and I really want to share my Amefuri and Karasuki with the world.

However, this story is soo complicated to get my head around.

Basically there are two main themes.

The Byakko legend of 100 years ago - which incorporates as much of Watase-sensei's canon as possibly exists as well as me filling in the gaps - alongside a new legend in the present (which connects irrefutably to the legend in the past and some unfinished seishi business).

Confused yet? :S It's little wonder that Rain Dragon's been a mental release.

But now the trouble is that I keep wanting to write Bleach fanfic. I figured Rain Dragon would be my one and only venture into that area, though I've already written one Momo/Kira oneshot and I've another Byakuya/Ukitake (no, not like THAT Byakuya/Ukitake, LOL! Give me some credit!!) scene to post up because of a conversation with someone over their possible 'past acquaintance'.

Last night I was compelled to write about Ukitake and Kyouraku's first meeting.

This is not good.

Plus - and this is the shameful author's admission, but no matter how many hits my Yuugi stories get, very few Yuugi fans leave reviews. And though I don't expect people to review my every word - it's nice when you put work into something to know if people like or hate it (so you know whether to continue putting that work into it). Yuugi fans seem shy in that regard. Hakuinden volume 1 had several hits, but only 5 reviews. In contrast, Rain Dragon's already had something like 65 reviews.

Is it shallow and narcissistic to like that...??

I guess we'll see what happens from hereon in. My usual way of writing is like a bullet train - I write a lot in a short space of time and if I don't finish the story then, it probably won't be finished. Case in point - Rain Dragon I started writing about a month ago and it's finished at about...I'm guessing two hundred thousand words since there're already 150k uploaded to FFnet and there are still ten chapters to upload there.

But having written that - I wonder if I'll be able to twitch my brain back towards Fushigi Yuugi and the Byakko bunch. Any Yuugi fans got any ideas to kickstart my inspiration...?
