Wow... where on earth have I been???

May 21, 2002 11:01

I've not been updating any of my LJ's recently... and somehow, I managed to forget about this one!! Bad me!!! Sigh...

Well, life is good for me right now... I'm anxiously awaiting the results of the EMT-Basic State Certification Exam... perhaps sometime this week they'll be here or next week... I still haven't been drawing my cards, but I've been reading my Zen Calendar... I love that thing... I'm so glad I got it... It'll become a yearly thing for me now...

There is only one large gray storm-cloud in my blue skies... a very dear and very special friend of mine (who means the world to me) is going to be taking a trip next month, and I've got a very bad feeling about it... I finally told him, and he is still planning on going on this trip. While I admire him for his loyalty and passion to do what's right, I fear I may lose him... that scares me and hurts beyond words... the trip gets started June 18th and he will return June 26th... I pray he comes home to me... to those of us that love him...

Well, I don't have much else to write about right now... life is going well, I'm living my life moment to moment and loving it... so then, without further ado, here are all the Zen Calendar entries since I've been here last:

Saturday, May 11th

Until I swatted a fly
the flyswatter never
existed.

~ Takahama Kyoshi

Sunday, May 12th

O to be delivered
from the rational
into the realm of
pure song...

~ Theodore Roethke

Monday, May 13th

The world is so vast
and wide. Why do you
put on your priest's
robe at the sound of
a bell?

~ Yun-Men

Tuesday, May 14th

Thinkers, listen, tell me what you know of
that is not inside the soul?
Take a pitcher full of water and set it down
on the water-
Now it has water inside and water outside.
We mustn't give it a name,
lest silly people start talking again about the
body and the soul.

~ Kabir

Wednesday, May 15th

The "silly" question
is the first intimation
of some totally new
development.

~ Alfred North Whitehead

Thursday, May 16th

The librarian saw a monk sitting in meditation in the
library a long time. The librarian asked, "Why do you
not read the sutras?"
The monk answered, "I do not know how to read."
"Why do you not ask someone who knows?"
The monk stood up, asking politely, "What is this?"
The librarian remained silent.

~ Zen Mondo

Friday, May 17th

Everyday life is
the way.

~ Zen Saying

Saturday, May 18th

The color of the mountainside and
the rushing of the valley streams
All is my voice and my figure,
Shakyamuni (Buddha).

~ Dogen

Sunday, May 19th

If an angel were to tell
us something of his
philosophies, I do believe
some of his propositions
would sound like 2 X 2 = 13

~ Georg Christoph Lichtenberg

Monday, May 20th

He who can take no
interest in what is small
will take false interest
in what is great.

~ John Ruskin

Tuesday, May 21st

Give up sainthood, renounce
wisdom, and it will be a hundred
times better for everyone. Give up
kindness, renounce morality, and
men will rediscover filial piety
and love.

~ Lao-Tzu
