Ode to chinders

This has been a while in coming. I think that every now and again one should receive a rave review in public (naturally, some people get more of these than others). So here's mine!

chinders is bright and bubbly and lots of fun to hang out with. The knockout figure and adorable face don't hurt. (She is also apparently EXTREMELY powerful, as the entire building's power shut off just as I was getting to the second paragraph.)

I describe her to friends as "25, but living the life of a 38-year-old", because she is mature and stable on top of being energetic and playful. She owns a home with her partners, is raising a dog, gardening, and doing handicrafts. She has a good job and the freedom to travel when she likes. She is, from what I can see, fabulous at handling interpersonal stuff and she works hard at setting appropriate boundaries. And she's accommodating without being a pushover, plus she can make decisions without being bossy.

A couple weeks ago, she drove up to the city on her week off, showed up at my sadly-disturbed house, and loaded more boxes than I'd thought possible into her bitty sports car. Then she drove us across the bridge (despite my complete and total lack of direction), managing to sing lead to "For the Longest Time" along the way (and tolerate my scattered harmony). Then she cheerfully schlepped boxes upstairs to the new apartment, located a restaurant that was open late and in the area, and enjoyed a delicious meal with me while regaling me with sexually explicit anecdotes. Did I mention that she doesn't care about what strangers think?

And a couple days later she met me at BART, rolled down the soft top, and we zoomed off to her place, where I officially met her Golden Retriever and the chickens, was introduced to her garden plot, and was fed one fresh, ripe, sunwarmed, practically orgasmic strawberry. Then we all curled up in the den and watched "Up" (yay!) and they only laughed at me a little bit when I covered my ears (instead of my eyes) at the scary parts. Afterward we played a card game simple enough for me and entertaining enough for the rest of them to be good sports for a round or two... and then she and I napped before dinner. Well, we snuggled and tickled and failed to actually nap. But still.

I am continually impressed by chinders's sunny personality, creative mind, and vigorous attitude. Also, one of the qualities I most admire in women is capability, and chinders has a can-do mindset that is very attractive. If she doesn't know how to do it, she knows how to find out. And she's willing to teach you. She inspires me to learn new things, and to have fun doing so.

It is my pleasure to present chinders with the Most Pleasant to Keep Company With award!
