Singapore (Part 1)

Dec 30, 2011 15:02

Since a couple of years I was thinking visiting Singapore. Why? I don’t have a clear answer, I was attracted by it - that’s it. So....

Republic of Singapore

Location: an island and islets in the heart of Southeast Asia, between Malaysia and Indonesia
Area: 710.3 km² (Comparison: Kanton Zurich - 1729 km², Montreal Island - 499 km²)
Population: 5,076,700 (Statistics Singapore, 2010)
Ethnic groups: Chinese 74.1%, Malay 13.4%, Indian 9.2%, Other races 3.3%
Language: Malay, Mandarin, Tamil and English are the 4 official languages in Singapore.

My short and very precise impression from Singapore I can put in three words: modern, clean and very green city.

Beginning of the trip

It was our aircraft - exactly this one, the name is "München" (the photo is not mine :-) )

The camera view from one installed in the tail of the aircraft

And finally after 12 hour flight we came in Singapore

Symbol of Singapore - Merlion

Modern city

and very green

Metro

Another metro station

The fines level in Singapore's metro (1 USD = 1.3 SGD)

and in the underpasses

Singapore River

Very impressive hotel Marina Bay Sands, 191 meters high, with 146 meters long swimming pool on the top of it

Some funny stuff inside of the shopping centre by Marina Bay Sands

Swimming pool

View on the Singapore from the top of Marina Bay Sands

Now, see Part 2 :-)
