blogging and tweeting

Jan 22, 2010 08:57

I am going to try an experiment in diversification - I already have a dedicated quilting blog (that will probably expand into whatever crafts I decide to get into in the future), but I am also going to start up a dedicated music/composing blog (since I am going to attempt to resurrect my shambles of a music career) and a freelance blog (which may be primarily focused on graphic/web design and illustration, but will also likely cover "writing" as well). This journal will still be here, because I have friends here, but I think I have to attempt some marketing; otherwise, I'll always be somebody's wage slave, which is not where I want to be.

I also have made accompanying Twitter accounts for all these endeavors - I just have to figure out how to tie everything together. I recently discovered that it's possible to automatically generate a tweet for a blog post, and that seems to be a good time-saving device. Today is one of my "free days" - a day where I'm not working for my job pimp (or stable manager as saminz calls them), and I'm "supposed" to be generating other clients and such.

Today, I'm procrastinating overhauling my music website. I have a deadline, as I'm going to be interviewed on a Pagan Worship Podcast next Sunday (details forthcoming, after I'm convinced I won't make a total fool of myself), and she will be playing my Imbolc song. Assuming she has an actual audience of more than 15 people, they will be looking at my band website, which hasn't seen a design update since the last CD came out, in 2005.

So I have 5 twitter accounts at the moment. All but one of them are "inactive" as in I have no followers and I haven't posted anything on them yet either. This will change in the near future.

My twitter accounts:

wendydesigns  - my freelance designer/writer stream
wendyopines - politics, rants, and stuff like that
quiltilicious - my quilting/craft stream
mftgoddess - the band/music stream
mamawitchcom - pagan parenting (if I decide to resurrect that site -  but someone already grabbed "mamawitch" as a name)

I promise to never tweet about breakfast or going to the grocery store or any such mundane trivia. I'm going to try to keep all of these at a "professional" level; in other words, post links to userful or interesting information, and links to my own blogging about the topics the stream is about.

The mundane trivia will be blogged about here, in much the same way I've been doing these past few years. And expect those monthly diet charts to start showing up again...
