So I had a wonderful weekend! :) Spent an atrocious amount of money at Target in their $1 bins (yaaaaaaaaaaaarn) but got a goodly number of stocking stuffers, little 'Hi, I'm thinking of you' silly gifts for my secret pal, and 'treat' things for Elizabeth. This involved blowing up an unwise number of balloons last night (lung exercise!!!) and letting her play with them in the living room. There were many screeches of delight and much rolling around on the floor. And the first thing she said when she woke up this morning was 'where's my red balloon?!' I was disappointed that they didn't have any of the boucle and worsted, but I will go back and look again soon. Customer service said they get shipments every night, and the yarn is new and is filtering up from the south, so it just may take longer for us to get it. I went with Heather and cardamom_23 and the three of us were a tad like kids in a candy store. Hee. Then we went to our favourite yarn store for a nice dose of yarn over-stimulation. I got my magic loop book and needles, and some Plymouth yarn to make a baby blanket for their Katrina blanket drive. Plymouth is halving the price of their yarn (a nice wool/acrylic blend that can be tossed in the wash) and giving out free patterns for this drive. I put the rest of my many projects on hold and started up the blanket (of which I am almost 2/3 finished with, go me!) But it makes me want to knit lots of baby blankets... must find more babies!!! Then we went to the grocery and got the fixings for tacos and burritos and stuffed ourselves and watched "Air America" while knitting and chattering at each other. We got all the kids settled down (mostly!) so some nice adult time was had. On Sunday Heather and her daughter came over to hang out, and fishballoon showed up to hang out with James, so I got to spend the afternoon curled up on the couch knitting and relaxing. All in all, just the kind of weekend I needed, where I just got to relax with friends and actually FEEL like I had a weekend somewhere in there. :)

Yesterday my doctor called me in though. My blood isn't thinning like it should... it's like only part of it is thinning, so there are these miniscule clots everywhere. So he effectively doubled my dose of medication and is halving the time between blood tests. Blah. But I've figured out that by changing the time of day that I take my other meds, I get to sleep at nights. :) And I'm not all puffy like I have been the past few weeks.

After we got home from the doctor James told me he wanted to take a nap, but about 10 minutes later he said 'I'm not napping.' I shrugged it off and went on with my knitting, figuring he was just playing WoW. About half an hour later, he gleefully called me upstairs. He'd apparently had a sudden inspiration about how to set up the 'teamspeak' server on my second computer, meaning that everyone in our guild can log in and talk over a mike and headset. When you take into consideration that much of the guild is family and close friends, there was no actual -playing- last night. It was one giant conference call, with a lot of people saying 'OMG this r0xx0rs!' It was kind of fun, though, getting to talk to mandista while playing. :)

The family with the two kids didn't end up buying the house two over from us. :( I'm sad, because I was envisioning lots of playmates for Elizabeth. I guess I will just have to meet some more people or something. ;)

medical, company, knitting, wow
