This is officially the end of this school year or the beginning of summer, it doesn't really matter cause september will always feel like the beginning of a new year instead of the end of an old one, and summer will always feel like the buffer in between both.
This year I managed to do a couple of stuff:
First of all, I finished the fucking cinema school for good. It's official since yesterday, I now own a bachelor in editing. And I graduated with DISTINCTION if you please. It just means that my average grade is above 70%, so it's not that fancy, but the belgians like to make it look fancy. I am now the proud owner of 3 useless bachelors: philosophy, cinema and editing. Oh yeah!
I started playing drums again. I'm not going anywhere near being good, but at least I'm improving and sometimes it's even fun and pleasant to play, so my case is not totally hopeless and maybe one day I'll be a decent drum player. *insert drum roll here*
I started to learn a new laguage: German. At first it was as prevention against intellectual lazyness that comes from working too many brain dead jobs and not using my brain enough now that my school years are (finally) over, as well as a first aid kit to carry around in German speaking countries, where I seem to be spending more and more time. It worked pretty well: I can still feel the headache that comes from trying to make a sentence in German in less than 5 minutes. I still couldn't speak a word of decent German if my life depended on it but this crazy language doesn't sound so scary anymore, and I managed to end the class with a score of 89% to my final test. Nicht so schlecht! In a moment of pure mazochism, I even enrolled for level 1.2 next year. *insert whip noise here*
As a reward to myself for doing all the things I should have done 2 years ago, but didn't give up on and finally did anyway, I went to get a hair cut. Not just a "cut them shorter" haircut, but a full haircut with special effects at the back and foam effects in the front. It looks pretty good right now, so it makes me a happy little person.
Another good thing is that Delphine finally moved out of the apartment. After several months of passive agressivity on a daily basis, she moved out all her shit to another (tiny) apartment and she grundgingly gave me back the keys on sunday, and even though her departure left me a bitter taste from unresolved issues, I'm still glad that the apartment is all ours now, and that her ex bedroom will be transformed into an office this summer.
Cherry on top of the cake: we're leaving for Berlin tomorrow to spend a week in German cabaret decadence bliss there.
And if it was enough, these days I'm reading the most fascinating book about early Hollywood, and I found it totally randomly in a second hand book store in Paris.
So right here, right now, summer 2008 couldn't look any better, any brighter. Let's unwind it!
