The painting, by Thomas Rowlandson, was painted in 1811. Amazingly, this view, from Bath Square, Old Portsmouth, Hampshire, is virtually unchanged today, with the 'Still & West' pub on the left and the 'Spice Island Inn' on the right. The ships are newer, now, of course!
