Character Information

General
Canon Source: Naruto.
Canon Format: Manga.
Character's Name: Hidan.
Character's Age: 22.

What form will your character's NV take?
like so. Projects a holographic screen, toggles between video feed, voice feed, and one of those fancy holograph keyboards like you see in Avatar or Invader Zim for typing up text, like Hidan will figure that out like ever. Fan-cy!

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Hidan is effectively immortal, although it was revealed in the last databook that if he stops killing other people, his immortality will disappear. At any rate, in the manga it’s shown that he can survive basically anything - having his head cut off, being blown to pieces, massive blood loss, sucking chest wounds, etc etc. His primary weapon is a tri-blade scythe designed to increase the likelihood of inflicting a wound upon his enemy. This is because the slightest wound is all Hidan needs to work his rituals. Once blood is drawn, he ingests it and inscribes his ritual circle on the ground. This allows his transformation into curse form, where every injury inflicted on Hidan's body will be mirrored on the body of the person whose blood he ingested. In this situation he apparently prefers to use a pike to inflict wounds upon himself, as it is more precise. He enjoys the suffering he inflicts upon himself, and watching his victims suffer.

Besides this exceptional trait, he has the skills of any Naruto-verse ninja. His ninjutsu is excellent, as well as his taijutsu. His strength is great, as well as his stamina. However, Hidan's a bit of a blockhead, and not invulnerable to a brainy enemy who knows how to deal with his tricks.

Further expansion and clarification can be found here.
Weapons: Hidan will be arriving with his tri-bladed scythe and several spools of heavy rope for it.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Very little of this was actually covered in the manga proper; most of Hidan’s supposed history was released in the last databook and is not fleshed out particularly well. At any rate, he’s apparently from Yugakure, the Village Hidden in the Steam, which was a shinobi village before it changed focus and became a prosperous tourist destination. Hidan wasn’t too keen on this switch, apparently; he killed off a bunch of his fellow villagers and left… to be a missing-nin and kill shit. Some time after this, he apparently agreed to become an experimental subject of the Jashinist sect. Their goal was to give him immortality. He was one of the (few?) successful candidates to survive the process.

One can basically guess that between leaving Yugakure and joining Akatsuki, Hidan wandered the elemental countries enjoying carnage and building a reputation as an impressive killer. It’s anyone’s guess as to whether he joins willingly or is shanghaied into the group, but Hidan ends up partnered with Kakuzu and becomes the other half of the ‘Zombie combie’, as the immortal duo is known. It couldn’t be said that the two men get along swimmingly by any means, but they are excellent compliments to each other and have great teamwork. They probably bring a lot of money and bounties in to Akatsuki before their fateful assignment to Konoha, where their mission is to kill Sarutobi Asuma.

It’s not that they aren’t successful with that first part - oh, Asuma definitely ends up dead. Unfortunately, this incurs the wrath of Asuma’s lazy genius student Shikamaru, who wants revenge for the death of his teacher.

Separated from his partner, Hidan is a much less effective fighter, and Shikamaru basically toys with him for a while before tripping the trap he’d set up long before they actually had their fight: a spiderweb of exploding tags surrounds Hidan, and when Shikamaru triggers them Hidan is both blown into pieces and dropped into a deep pit, where he’ll remain until his immortality wears off and he dies, Akatsuki not bothering to retrieve him. :´´´´´´(
Point in Canon: After Shikamaru destroys him and drops him in a pit.

Character Personality: Abrasive, abusive, foul-mouthed and loud, Hidan is a hard character to tolerate even at the best of times. He's a zealot, a sadist, a masochist, and prone to challenging authority figures, blithely uncaring as to what the consequences might be. He’s also not the sharpest crayon in the box; he doesn’t think the consequences of his actions through, which gets him into plenty of trouble with his partner as well as his enemies.

Hidan does have some redeeming qualities, though considering the extent of his sadism and bloodlust, they really aren't that much. For one, he does seem to demonstrate a certain respect for other religious types, even if they aren't followers of Jashinism. His reluctance to kill a high-ranking monk due to the man's position as a spiritual leader demonstrates this. And it's not necessarily like Hidan hates eeeeeeeveryone. He has plenty of abrasive crap to throw at his partner Kakuzu, for instance, but when push comes to shove the two men do fuse into a formidable team, and they work well together. Besides, Hidan might be a dangerous foe, but to be really effective he needs someone around who's willing to patch him up after he's done with the fighting. He is capable of a degree of backwards professionalism in that kind of situation. Even if a working relationship is fraught with tension, even if the two don't necessarily get along, Hidan can manage to work with a partner - though it's probably important to note that those two were some of the few people who'd actually be capable of surviving each other as well, and besides that, Kakuzu had no problem with Hidan's bloodthirsty nature. And rest assured, his nature is bloodthirsty. When his home village transitioned into being a peaceful tourist destination, Hidan went missing-nin and left the place entirely. He could have switched over to a peaceful trade like his compatriots, but a quiet civilian's life is not for him.

Besides that, Hidan is probably the type who'd enjoy picking out 'favorite victims' and picking, prodding, and bullying at them. Even if he 'liked' someone it might not end up meaning that much - though he'd be sort of sadistically delighted to find someone who didn't give way in fear to him, that would just highlight them as a target as well, as he'd hit them harder and harder just to see if he could make them crack. Even if he was disappointed in a way when they did, it would just be like a bratty little boy who'd played too hard with his toys and broken them. He wouldn't spend much time trying to put them back together or anything.

While he can enjoy a challenge when it comes to a victim, the kind of people who will really sort of puzzle Hidan are the one who remain collected and calm in the face of his rudeness, or those who are persistently polite to him in spite of his invective. Still, most anyone is a potential victim at some point, and he doesn't really make a good friend to be trusted at all.

Character Plans: Troll Shikamaru. Connect with Madara, if the big Akatsuki daddy cares to take him back after that humiliating defeat. :'( Teach everyone in the Port about Jashin. Be an abrasive dick. Talk to other spiritual/violent types. See if he actually makes friends with anyone... somehow...

Appearance/PB: ehs a sexy man with muscles hard like a pillowcase packed tight full of pureed squirrel corpses end whit hair

No, I can't, okay. :( He's a muscular young man of twenty-two. Strapping would be the word. Generally, he does not appear exceptional, though he is good-looking. Most striking features would be his slicked-back white hair and red eyes. He also has notches in his ears where he got bits sliced out of them. Otherwise, see his icons.

[Aren't you all lucky ducks, it sounds like Hidan has actually figured out how to use his NV and is now successfully assailing the network. He sure sounds grumpy. What's that all about? Don't worry, it's nothing new for him.]

Hey, shitheads. I got the skinny on this place so don't bother tripping all over yourselves to gimme the basics. Does no one here have anything better to do? Fuck, don't answer that, I don't wanna know, you guys should all just listen here anyway. I'm doing you a favor, seriously.

My name's Hidan and I'm here to tell you about Jashinism. Jashin will change your life! I'm fucking serious, Jashin can grant immortality and it's not this pussy immortality that only shows up after you die after you float away to fuckin' cloud palaces or whatever, it's for real actual everlasting life on fucking earth until you've appeased your lord and master Jashin, owner of your soul, yatta yatta. As a follower of Jashin you're chosen and unlike some, he actually smiles upon his followers with favors.

It's not fucking easy if you think it's going to be some kind of kiddy ride to immortality and God-party-favors and shit, though. Jashin only gives his favor if you're really fucking serious and if you work hard and pray fuckin' constantly and keep up with rituals and shit and everything you're supposed to do. No sissies allowed! Not that you'd make it anyway, haha.

But if you wanna be seriously fucking hardcore, I will be your teacher on the path of awesome, which is also the path of Jashin, they even sound kind of alike, awesome, Jashin, you get it? Not a fucking coincidence. I'm serious here.

Anyway, if you have any questions, bring it. Hell, if you're religious, bring it. Fucking atheists up the fucking wazoo here and it's fucking gross, am I right?

Even under the bright light of the moon the Darkness roiled, filthy, starving, and unstoppable. The Port might've been more dangerous at night than home, even, not that Hidan hadn't had some close shaves with hunter nin, but there had been long slack times there, traveling between villages, or just times when no one was on his trail and Hidan could kind of relax and take his time. Nowhere like that in the Port - when the night came down, the monsters came out, shacking out fur, claw, fins and feathers, ready to rend.

It wasn't too bad. It made it easy to get rid of a body, for sure. All he had to do was leave the corpse out and wait for night to fall over it. Fascinating to watch, the Darkness filming over pale dead skin, making the thick spilled blood opaque black, without bright shadows, a hint of color or interest. Even Hidan couldn't afford to hang around long. He had to run for it himself. Immortal or not, getting chunked to pieces in the bellies of twenty different monsters would cause problems, and he'd just got out of being mincemeat, wasn't eager to repeat the experience of being hacked into sloppy chunks again.

Not that it was as much trouble for Hidan, running bleeding, like it would've been for some shinobi. It hurt, sure, to have a whole through his heart, to have his organs pierced, and it was inconvenient. He couldn't run as fast or as easily. But he was immortal and Jashin's gift kicked in even without a medic's help. It buoyed him up, carried him on a wave of vertigo and having just missed death's razor edge. Adrenaline and holiness, sure, maybe.

No lights, every good soul shut up snug in their bed. But he was still loosed and free, running with his scythe over his back, bolting in spurts from safe space to safe space, slicing and hacking and leaping away when he had to. That monsters blood would probably be bitter if he had to lap it up, and there wasn't much point to dispatching their souls. Those souls wouldn't go anywhere anyway. They'd just be back the next night - he'd have loved to turn them loose, sent them flocking up to Jashin to be sorted, chosen, discarded. But no.

Running in the city midnight, puffing blood mist out his lips, for all that he wanted to say it was for Jashin, it wasn't. It was just straight-up for Hidan.
