Rating: Pg [I mean they are just having a stern conversationXD]
Summary: Hiei goes and rescues Koenma willingly, for his own personal reasons.

There was a message left on the prince's desk as the youkai had wanted to see why it had been quiet for quite some time. It figures that Koenma was off on his merry way to Yomi's castle. That posed a more difficult task for the fire koorime. Though, he seemed as if he didn't care what happened to the prince, but nonetheless, he needed Koenma alive for the information he could supply the demon with. Nonetheless, Hiei had left the ridiculous note where it was and headed on his way towards the castle of Yomi.

With that, he opened his Jagan eye and searched throughout the midst of the castle, at least vaguely to where the prince was. He located Koenma's energy easily, but getting into the castle was the problem. Once Hiei made it to the site of the forest that was not too far away from the castle, he stood there, watching with his keen hues, seeing which direction to go, of if there were any sort of committee awaiting the demon as a trap or something along those lines. Hiei was not pleased. Koenma could not die yet, that was what was processing through his head.

The last thing Koenma remembered before passing out was Kurama's look...there was hope there still and he just had to hold onto that. The prince slowly came to in a dark room, but his vision was blurry and his head hurt along with his ankles, wrists, and throat where Kurama had strangled him. He bowed his head, it had been foolish to come alone but he had not wanted Hiei or Botan to be hurt. He tried to move, he had to get out. So long as he lived, neither Yomi or his minions could take Mafuukan and he had to ensure that the sealing spell never fell in demon hands.

Hiei had looked around a few times with his Jagan and even though the vicinity was blurry, it didn't seem like any one of Yomi's minions were present. He didn't sense Kurama near the prince's resting area either, so the fire koorime made his way towards the castle, totally ignoring the fact that Yomi had already warned him about coming back. This time, he had no reason ot sneak around. He was merely heading there to retrieve the prince's body, knowing that the other was fairly alive and possibly having a hard time moving around. The youkai made it past the forest area and towards the front door, and shoving it opened rather violently, not caring. The demon strolled down the hall of the castle, searching for the right room.

The castle corridors were empty and deserted, dark as usual. From Yomi's throne room, there was the sound of quite voices , but no one came to investigate.

Koenma tried to pull himself up, but fell back when the pain washed over him. It hurt to breathe still, from when Kurama strangled him but he was determined to get out of here. Pain was better than Yomi having Mafuukan...

The youkai strolled down the longer hallway, but in a faster pace, but he did not rush things. Hiei kept his eyes opened for anything fishy as well as anyone that would try to assault him unguarded. It didn't matter to him if anyone was within the castle. He was sure there were people and they were willing to attack any intruder, if they seen him at least. Hiei had kept his youki hidden quite well, and knowing most the servants of Yomi, they would not detect him, but Yomi himself might have.

Hiei had a slightly advantage at the moment, even if it was a small one. After all, even Kurama could not find him when he masked his youki. Hiei's thoughts drifted back to reality as he stopped in front of the door that contained the Reikai Prince. Without giving much thought to someone else's property, he kicked it open with quite some force.

Koenma jumped when the door was kicked in. He tried to sit up, expecting to see Kunzite or another minion come to finish him off and take the Mafuukan. "Hiei..." Koenma could not help but smile, he had never been so glad to see the fire koorime before. But then he remembered their situation a moment later, and he tried to move but nearly collapsed in pain again. "It's...dangerous..." his voice was raspy, the deep bruise marks from the vines were clear around his wrists, ankles, and neck.

Hiei stared at the Reikai Prince without saying anything at first. His ruby hues adverted to the position the prince was in. It was not a very good condition either. He grunted slightly, seeing he would have to drag Koenma out of this eerie place. He watched with unmoving eyes at Koenma as the other tried to move but failed rater miserably. So, it was Kurama’s doing, seeing the plants that hung around the baby prince's wrist, he would only assume Kurama would be capable of such things, and possibly the only minion of Yomi that would be able to wield plants.

"I have masked my youki. Even his minions cannot trace me, unless Yomi himself makes his presence known, I am sure that there is nothing dangerous about it," he retorted icily.

"Yomi wants...Mafuukan," Koenma said seriously. "He had really twisted Kurama into being like he was when he was Youko....there was nothing I could do..." the prince said, feeling miserable. He had failed, it was his fault alone that he had not been able to save Kurama...or any of the others.

"You realize if he gets his hands on it, it will be the end of you, as well as this pathetic world," the boy mused faintly to Koenma as he moved a bit closer to the prince, wanting to get out as soon as possible really. He didn't have any intentions of staying here any longer than he needed to be, on risk of being caught. The boy adverted is eyes away from Koenma for a while before speaking again.

"Whatever he did to the fox, it cannot be undone with common sense at the moment. Kurama is blinded by Yomi's spell, whatever it is and cannot come to his senses. You of all people could not simply reason with him to get his full attention back to the fact that he isn't Youko Kurama anymore," he started, "I suggest we move out of this place before Yomi decides to visit," he added blankly to his retort.

Koenma nodded slowly, his neck still hurt and he winced at the movement. "I know....and yes,, but Kurama shattered my ankles..." he explained, trying to stand nonetheless. This is why he had other's fight, he was royalty and was not used to being injured so badly!

"How pathetic, being a deity, and yet, your bones are cracked by someone who used to serve under you," the fire koorime mused darkly as he moved towards Koenma. He assumed that the other would not be able to walk either, but had not thought of what he would do to take Koenma out of this place. It would look odd for him to throw the other over his shoulder and move out. Also, Koenma could walk, so it meant he had to think of something useful... though at the moment he seemed to have no idea whatsoever. Hiei grunted silently before inquiring in a calm tone, "What exactly do you want me to do since you are unable to move."

"Hey, I don't fight, that's why I hired you, Yusuke...Kuwabara..." he started but fell silent. He could not rely on them all the time here it seemed.

"Either way, I suppose you should have put up a better fight," the boy started, "though that is not important at the moment. Care to tell me how you intend to get out of this place with broken ankles then, Koenma?" he inquired again, seeing that the prince did not reply to him the first time. Perhaps, he was more focused on the first question than the second one. Either way, they had to get out now, and not soon, now. There was no telling what would happen if they stayed any longer within the vicinity of Yomi, and in his territory base.

Koenma glared at Hiei, the other should have remembered what the prince planned to do if he had to fight Sakyo in the Dark Tournament. "I have no idea in fact," he said after a moment, he doubted he could even stand, let alone keep up with Hiei's speed.

"You...can crawl out then, if you have no better suggestion," the boy replied flatly in retort to Koenma's reply. He didn't want to really drag the prince out himself, seeing it was the best way at the moment, but he would simply wait to Koenma suggested something that would be useful to moving the prince back outside. That was just the last resort, though seeing the situation right now, Hiei really didn't have a choice.

"Well, what do you think I was trying to do before you arrived?" Koenma said seriously. As he was prince of Reikai and a shinigami, he healed fast but not fast enough to get out of here.

Hiei inwardly twitched at that and seemingly decided to give in for now, and deal with Koenma later. The boy walked over and bended over towards the prince that laid on his stomach or back, whatever, Hiei didn't really care. He took a hold of one of the prince's arms and hoisted him up to a standing position, before throwing him over his shoulder. It was an odd scene, but he didn't really want to stick around here for the results of his intrusion and Koenma was obviously being annoying at the moment. He just wanted him to shut up.

"I will deal with this later, for now, we're getting out," he mused, as the youkai slowly made his way out of the room that he had entered, not bothering to close the door.

"Ow...." Koenma said as Hiei picked him up. Of course this was rather awkward and he almost made a crack about Hiei would get a raise for this until he remembered that Reikai did not pay their employees and decided against it.

Hiei made slowly out of the room and then within the next moment, the fire koorime was racing towards the opened castle doors that he had broken open and rushed on outside, without bothering to hide the fact that he was there, since he had come for his objective and was retrieved, he could care less if Yomi found out. He would be unable to do anything for the short time. Hiei slowed down as he made his way towards the forest once more, and when the two of them reached the middle of the forest, Hiei had slowed down his pace to a mere stroll.

Koenma had a feeling that was all a bit too easy but didn't comment on it. The important thing was that he was out of the castle and still had Mafuukan in his possession. He breathed a sigh of relief, which made him wince again.

He walked slowly, avoiding any sort of human or demon contact as he walked, making sure that no one saw him. It was quite awkward yes, and rather embarrassing. He did not expect to even be doing this, and if Koenma took his baby form, it would at least looked somewhat more natural, than right now. The boy had his eyes closed as he moved, searching out the headquarters of Koenma's so he could drop this dead weight somewhere at least.

Koenma's eyes started to close, through the pain and how much he needed to heal, the prince was starting to get tired and light headed again. But his teeth were still clamped tightly around Mafuukan...just in case.

Hiei strolled hidden among the shadows as he made his way towards Koenma's home. It did not take long, before the two for them approached the large house construction, and the smaller youkai looked around for one brief second to see if anyone had followed them or anything for the matter, and seeing none, Hiei made his way towards the house, growing slightly anxious to drop Koenma off in the house, anywhere at least. Seeing he was a deity, it should not take that long for him to recover. The fire koorime didn't even understand why he was doing such things at the moment, and Hiei somewhat questioned why eh was still among these people.

"Thank you, Hiei," the Reikai Prince muttered, half conscious by now. But he was still touched that Hiei had come for him and that they had gotten out without being stopped.

Hiei did not respond to the baby prince's gratitude towards his help, he merely thought of it as he had no intentions of letting Yomi take over the world. He refused to obey anyone really, but to do that, he had to protect Koenma and that pacifier of his. That was pretty much what he believed, but we all know he's a bit concerned himself, but isn't showing it through. Hiei made it to the door and easily opened it with one hand, while balancing the dead weight with the other. Since there was no key and he had no idea if it was relevant or not, Hiei shoved the door open, being the impatient and quite rude demon he was. Once in the living room, he closed the door and almost tossed Koenma's body onto the couch. He then slowly stretched out his arm, that was slowly going numb.

"Ow!" waves of pain went through the prince as he was tossed onto the couch. That hurt...a lot. He lingered between consciousness and unconsciousness as he lay there on the couch.

"I did you a favour and moved your body here, the rest is up to you, and next time, don't waste your time trying to confront the enemy head on by yourself," he mused slightly as the boy moved to sit on the opposite side of where he had rudely tossed Koenma on. His ruby orbs flickered as he spoke. A careless move to do everything himself. It seemed that Koenma was better sitting in on spot yelling, then trying to do something and getting caught and messed up for that. Ch', what a bother. He seemed almost like babysitter... well quite literally.

"I didn't want to put you and Botan in danger....I know it was stupid but I failed Kurama like I did the others...and Sensui before," the prince said quietly, not moving.

"At least, I would be able to crawl back alive..." he retorted crossing his arms, and ignoring the other comment. He didn't really want to get into speaking about the failing process. Kurama was not himself lately, and would do such things to someone like Koenma, then it would tell the boy something, that perhaps his companion is indeed blinded by the youkai lord's magic. It sounded ludicrous, but could be the obvious truth. Hiei inwardly winced remembering the Sensui situation back then.

"I got through to Kurama...at the end," Koenma said with a sigh. "He saved my life from another one of Yomi's minions, he is not completely lost yet..."

"Heh, perhaps not, then you should cling on that little hope you have left," Hiei retorted monotone, saying nothing more than that, his simple reply to Koenma. Heh, either way, something unpleasant shall happen sooner or later, so it really didn't matter much t Hiei at the moment, thought, it seemed that Koenma was quite into trying to get Kurama to come to his senses.

"You would leave him to Yomi?" Koenma asked, looking up at Hiei with a serious look through he tried not to move very much.

"I did not say that I would simply hand him over to Yomi," the boy replied, "though, I believe sooner or later, he will be able to break free of Yomi's bond. That is all. If he is truly strong, then he will break away, if not, there is little hope for him," Hiei added, with equal stern tone of his. It was not that he didn't care, it was merely displayed through his own coldness. Though somewhere, deep down, under his coldness, Hiei was a slight bit concerned. it merely wasn't displayed physically.

"...I hope so. I should have done something more but I didn't," the prince commented, shifting slightly on the couch which caused him to hiss slightly. It seemed he was not going anywhere for a while as his ankles and wrists healed...the best part of that meant no stamping!

The boy stayed silent now, not speaking anymore. He said his fill of words, and now, if they chose to be in action, he would be a bit amused, if not, he would wait and see the worse of the world here. Hiei looked the other way, away from Koenma and towards the wall in silence. His arms still crossed and his body was glued to the area he was sitting on and did not move very much.

Koenma fell silent too, he was tired and he needed rest. He would figure out another way to save Kurama later when he was recovered. He closed his eyes, allowing himself to drift off.

hiei, koenma
