Koenma was bored. His office...the living room of the house, was a mess of papers and reports and it was driving him insane!!!! He took a deep breath, scribbled a note to Botan, and hopped out of his chair and headed outside for a nice walk. It was a bit dark outside but he told himself that the prince of the spirit world was not afraid of the dark...right? Right. So he walked on , heading off the street....
The spiritual miko wandered among the city in utter silence. The darkness seeped in from every direction. There seemed to be no moon tonight, so there wasn't any silver illuminations taht would bathe the city in, only the dull yellow lamp posts that stood on the ends of the street. She had her bow tuckedin her hands tightly, and the remaining arrows, moved in her quiver as she walked slowly, taking every step in caution. Her sandaled feet tapped against the stone ground as she walked, awaiting the return of the serpants that bathed her with the souls that have been deceased. Whether it was a crime or not, she did not care. They were dead, and she was already stuck in this void much worse than hell itself, and walk the earthen path alone. Her chsetnut hues watched the night as it moved on. It was calm, and te slightest sounds could be heard as a faint whisper in the night.
Koenma was starting to think it was a bad idea to venture out in the darkness...there was no moon out and it was very creepy. He swore he saw Yomi...or Karasu...or one of the Toguro brothers...in every shadow. He froze as he heard footsteps, eyes wide. But then he nearly smacked himself, here he was, Prince Enma Jr, scared of the dark and someone else on the street. It was silly really.
Kikyou's eyes adverted towards the movement not far from her, andher footsteps ceased in movement. She held the bow in a simple stance, that she would be able to shoot the threat, but she lowered it even more, when she noticed what seh sensed was anything but a threatening aura. Could there be some lone wolf wandering the dark without any light, and only the ones supporting were poor, and it made her wonder what strange objects the people have come up with here. This world, was like the other her, her reincarnation would look like. That girl, she had not seen for a while. Kikyou could care less. Everything slowly disappeared from her sight as the days passed. Even Naraku's aura had not been revealed for a while. It seemed someone else was working behind the covers. Perhaps it was that youkai? She had seen Kagura a few times, that wind sorceress had been keeping tabs on something or someone, but she would always sense her going towards that direction. Perhaps, there is a new treat that would need to be purified of darkness. Though there was little a dead miko could do in reality.
The toddler prince took a few moments to gather the courage to turn around to face whoever was following him.He was on guard, ready to attack should the need arise. As he turned, he could see the shadowly figure of the miko with her bow and without thinking, he took a step back. There was something not right here, the miko's aura was...well, unnatural.
"Who are you?" the prince demanded around his pacifier in a confident tone to hide his uneasyness. Something about the woman creeped him out- maybe he should have dragged along Botan or Kurama but it was too late for that now.
Kikyou's souless eyes adverted to the Reikai Prince in a slow manner. Her movements were almost doll-like, but she was far from a bendable doll. Her expression did nto change, and her lips were curved in a straigh stoic form that it was hard for anyone to tell what she was feeling. She did not attack the Reikai Prince, but obvously a bit surprised at the talking toddler. Why was a baby talking? Was it a demon perhaps, those taht are parasites and attach to their victims? Or perhaps, he was possessed? Though, the figure hardly bore much of a threat against the miko, she coul tell. Her lips moved, as she spoej up.
"Why is a baby talking? Have you possessed the innocent soul of the child?" she inquited, still holding onto that bow in her hands, and not moving from her spot. Who was t his person and why did they seem not threatening but at the same time odd for a baby to talk?
"Watch who you are calling a baby, buster!!!" Koenma huffed, insulted. At least, until he remembered he was still in his toddler form. Oh how embarrassing..." I am Koenma, prince of Reikai...and I am very cool," he said, trying to sound important since he did not want to appear scared or uneasy at the woman's attitude. He was prepared in case she attacked...at least to run away.
"The Prince of Reikai?" the woman mused, her brow raised a bit. The story was hardly one to believe. How could she possibly believe such lies? Though in a way it wasn't much of a lie, seeing it would also mean that it was the reason for the talking baby? She wasn't aware that it wasn't a baby, but something else, but there was no youki coming from the boy in front of her. The dead miko still did not believe the words of the Reikai Prince, only watched to see waht he would do in reply to her question. The woman was not aware of the realms much, depending on if she was almost pulled to hell along with her lover, but that was unsucessful in the end. That was all she knew, but here there is a talking baby saying he is the Prince of Reikai. That should pose a problem for the woman, since she had cheated death...
Koenma could tell she was not alive, he wondered if she was one of the souls who managed to escape judgement. Sensui and Itsuki had....but she did not look like either of them....or so he saw. "That's what I said," Koenma remarked in a flat tone, he was tempted to ask what her story was, how she had escaped being judged and sent to a place in Reikai.
Her eyes continued to focus on the Reikai Prince as he stated. If he was truly the Reikai Prince, then she would have no business of staying with the Prince, since she was sure he was aware of her state, and whatnot. The souls in her body were restless now, thanks to the appearance of the Reikai Prince, but she made them succumb to her being, and still they lay inhabited in her clay hardened body. The woman would glance at the prince once more, before she said nothing else and started to walk the opposite direction. She didn't want to spoken of about not being alive, and such things as why she was bound to this earth, shackled and unable to recieve death. Though if Koenma had looked at her closely, she would look like anothe human girl that had been here, her reincarnate. The only reason she was still here, was because of the soul that had not escaped her body, when Kagome recieved the souls back. That was her only link. Ah, but there was so much to be done here, that even if she wished for death, it mattered little. A small dark smile spread on her lips as she atempted to leave without further questioning.
But Koenma was curious now. Pointing his finger, a shield of gold spirit energy appeared before her. "You are not alive, are you?" the prince was suddenly serious. His shadow was no longer that of a toddler but now taller as he had shifted to his adult form. If she put up a fight or attacked him, it would be easier to fight and defend himself.
The woman had not noticed the golden barrier, at least not until it flashed before her chestnut hues. Kikyou took a step back avoiding the barrier that had formed and allowing her to not escape at all. The woman's form slowly turned towards the Reikai Prince, he eyes, lifeless as they always were, and she looked at him, with those piercing eyes, that held nothing. Her eyes seemed to be unreadable and harder to read. What business did the man want with her? She was fully aware that the baby had taken a different form, much more suitable for talking. She did not attempt to attack him, only speaking to waht he had inquired of her. Kikyou did not look amused at all.
"What of it?" she mused, at the Reikai Prince.
"...how did you escape judgment," Koenma asked with a frown. If she was connected to Sensui...or Yomi...it would not be good at all. He had to know who they faced in this world. He knew that others took hims more serious when he appeared older than in his toddler form....he still remembered the first time he met Yusuke. Such disrespect but then again, Yusuke and respect did not exactly go hand in hand.
Knowing that the man was serious, and she would not be able to cross the barrier without facing off with him in the first place. She was sure he knew she was not an evil spirit, even if it seemed though she was one. She wore the garments of a miko, and carried strong spirtual powers for purifying most evil presences. Though perhaps this was a man from another world, as the people she had met. There was little she could do to escape being asked such questions, but the excuse of coming from another realm wasn't going to help either. The woman's lips parted, and she spoke monotone to the man.
"Why is that any of your concern?" she inquired. She did not want to recall the time she was resurrected, or mention much to him that would make this man look into the details even more. She didn't lie about it either, sicne it was not right from the beginning. It was true that she escaped judgement but it was not her choice, perhaps it was the strong will that bounded her to the hanyou that allowed the old witch to bring her back into a stone body of dirt and clay mixed with her cremated remains
Koenma did not have the same uneasiness about her that he felt around demons like the Toguros or Yomi but he still wanted to know. "It is not very common....so I am rather curious as basically the overseer of the afterlife," he stated evenly Koenma rarely was serious but he knew he would have to answer to King Enma should his Father notice these things.
She felt compelled to say anything more to the Prince, but it seemed he wasn't playing around, nor did it look like he wazs going to leave any time soon if she were to stay silent, and say nothing towards the man, but if he is the Reikai Prince, he should know, not everyone is capable of talking about their past to strangers, as well as she wasn't sure if he was bluffing about it or not, but she chose to believe it enough to speak to him in such a manner.
"Perhaps it is my will, or perhaps the woman that used witchcraft with my remains," she replied vaguely.
Koenma slightly relaxed , it seemed she did not have any connects to Yomi or any other dangerous demon...that he knew of at least. But he wanted to be sure..."Do you have any connection with any Makai Lord or former Reikai Tantei?" he asked directly, but he lowered the barrier, but was ready to put it back if she did not answer.
"I am a miko, my duty is to purify what is evil. I don't recall any of those names," she replied slowly to the man, knowing he saw it much easier when she answered his questions easily. Her hands had not moved from their positions, and her eyes still focused on the man. She did not mention her encounters with any youkai or anything that would spark any sort of idea for the Prince. She knew that she had no connection to such creatures, and that was enough. There was no need to mention things that were not part of the question, but nonehtheless, she was curious to why he seemed to suspect her as something but a miko. She couldn't blame the man, but in a way, she was getting a bit irritated at this hold-up.
"Good..." Koenma nodded but he did not completely lower his guard but at least she was not working for Yomi. He knew that she was not supposed to be alive but he had bigger things to deal with and she did not seem to be causing trouble so he would not meddle here. He did not even understand her situation, so he thought it best just not to get involved.
The woman was curious with his situation as well, knowing that he already asked her questiones, and that he knew she was anything but alive, nonetheless, the woman was going to pose her own question to see what he would answer her with. It was only fair, since he had already meddled in her condition.
"Why are you cautious about this? I am curious to exactly who or what you were speaking of when you inquired if I had any connection to them?"
"I wanted to make sure you did not have any connection to the dangerous demons in this world," the prince stated honestly. He knew Yomi's current allies were dangerous and he did not want the demon lord gathering yet more allies...thankfully this creepy woman had not been sent by him. So there was no need to run away...yet.
Kikyou's eyes moved away from the Reikai Prince, as she looked up a the moonless night. The stars seemed to light most the night with their faint lights. Of course, she could not blame him for suspecting her of such things, after all she was dead, and she appeared different from the rest. It was always like that, people suspecting her of being evil because she was no longer that of the living, but the woman didn't see herself as a living creature, or a dead being, she was a lingering will, awaiting to be done with, and death did not follow that will. Perhaps Naraku was the reason for it, the creature that was borne of Onigumo. She had strong will to kill him. The woman chuckled sofltly, but hollowly, there was no amusement in her laugh, but a cold one. She stopped and looked at him.
"I assure you I pose no threat to you, only the opposite," she replied.
"Good, good, I am glad to hear that," Koenma said, a little unnerved by her creepy laugh. He slowly started to back away, shifting the pacifier in his mouth. Creeeepy....and he wanted no part of it. "Well, I am glad to hear that so I will let you go on your way then!" he said, trying to sound confident and imporant.
Her face slowly changed back to its stoic features, but she did not seem to say anything towards Koenma. The Reikai Prince didn't like her company, she could tell that. She kept a faint thought in her head that. The woman shifted her form towards the opposite direction and startd to walk away. She would look into this ordeal more later, but right now, she felt uneasy with the facts that there were evil presences, and demons that were threatening to take over the world. Naraku would have made allies with them for the use of his plans, she was sure of it. Though, she kept the facts of the existence of the Shikon no Tama in thsi world, since if there were youkais craving powers. they would definately hunt the Shikon Shards down, even with a shard, it increases the user ten fold. That was what she was afraid of.
"Phew..." Koenma was relieved that she did not approach closer. He was glad no one else was around to see how uneasy he was, he was the prince of Reikai, he was supposed to fear nothing. Clasping his hands behind his back, he walked...fast....towards the house. Afraid, of course not!
