Merry had run to the library, her impatient streak telling her it had taken far too long to find the building and she ought to be scolded. But she knew that would come with time, when she returned to the house... so the longer it took, it wasn't necessarily bad... except that she must find Gilford as soon as she could.

She entered the library, her shoes making almost no sound on the floor as she walked. It was indescribably creepy here, like there had never been a living thing in the building, and her presence--her breathing alone--might accidentally disturb that silence. Everything was so still... and the Library was big.

"Gilford," She called out. "Are you here?"

A faint noise broke the silence, like a door scraping against stone and wood. It caught his attention instinctively, although he clearly wasn't in his basement. Then came a far more wonderful sound, faint and indistinct but there nonetheless.

"Merry!" The name echoed off the books, almost enough to scatter some of the dust around him. Abandoning both his picture and the small beeping toy (he was growing weary of it anyway; it didn't make much sense to him), Gilford scrambled to his feet, pulling the blanket he'd managed to keep with him tighter around his shoulders as he stumbled out of the room.

There. Down in the main entrance, a flight of stairs below his current position. Despite the distace, the young man leaned out over the balcony, waving on hand almost cheerily.

Merry heard her name and looked around, trying to pinpoint the source. It was such a big room and voices echoed so dreadfuly... but she finally saw him on the upper level, waving from the banister. "Gilford!!"

Her face broke into a relieved smile and she started to run forward towards the staircase.

She finally reached the top and although a little breathless from the run up the long stairs she gave him her bright smile. "I'm so happy you're well, Gilford!! I was so worried!"

He didn't notice that he'd dropped to his knees, only knew that he was dreadfully glad to see her bright familiar face in this strange and unknown setting. Instantly he was upon her, reaching out to touch her hair and cheeks, eyes flashing over her entirely to be sure she was all in order.

If anything were wrong with her, he wasn't sure what he'd do. As it was, each second revealing that (apart from her run) she was perfectly fine, one of his own sunny grins fell into place over his lips.

"You were... worried? Was I gone long, my princess?"
