Severus felt as an orphan. Here he was is this new world, with no one he knew, all of his dreams, hopes, and regrets behind him. On one hand, he was mourning his life back at Hogwarts, on the other, he felt as if he had been set free. It was all too much.
Not knowing what to do with himself, he found himself wandering into a tavern. After a few hours, he walked out, stumbling around the streets shouting angry nonsense, eventually collapsing against a wall, weeping. After that, he passed out. When day broke, he was still lying there asleep, head in his arms so that only his greasy black hair could be seen...
