"Mm... it's our job, right or not," Ren shrugged, picking at a piece of lint on the knee of his jeans. "I mean, it's always harder when they don't ask for it. Chiaki-chan was real smart, though. She figured it out more or less on her own."
For a moment he was frowning again. Really, that had been one of the last times he and Rai...
"...I just wish it was as easy to kill my friend."
Sad to Satell, at least the child was smart. Accepting death is not easy. Lord, if Sister Rosette was here she would lecture him of her silly nonesense. Satella brush a couple strains of her red hair away from her face.
"You plan on killing your friend!" Satella spoke in a shocking tone as she kept her tone level quite low. She jerks her head up to him with a shock look upon her face. After reviewing his story for a moment, Satella knows why from his view but...that doubt. The woman has no idea what to do.
Golden eyes glanced over at Satella with a surprising degree of calm, another shrug rolling from the boy's shoulders. "That's been the plan. We're evenly matched, you know. I'm what they call the 'ultimate offense,' and he's the 'ultimate defense.' We were the Sword and Shield together. And, when the time came, we were going to kill each other to prevent the Diabolo from using us to destroy everything we held dear."
It had been a good plan, really. If it hadn't been for the Six Great Spirits... if Rai hadn't fallen to Nebiros so easily... Shivering Ren allowed himself to sigh softly, the quiet sadness returning to his features as he spoke again.
"It's going to be harder now. But... you know, he's not even my friend anymore. He's... It's like Rai's dead. Now it's just the devil in his body I have to get rid of."
Ultimate offense and ultimate defense, they sound as if they have been together in Satella's mind. If his friend is truely possessed, then really it's not him. But, looking at the face of a friend ready to kill. Is it possible?
"No soul..now no body...It sounds to me your 'friend' is a puppet."
The woman let's out a soft sigh, "..well then, this will not be an easy task indeed. Remember, I agreed to help you, my juwels will be useful."
Did she mention to Ren she is a Jewel Witch, maybe not.
Frowning, Ren had to nod. At this point, Rai really was nothing more than a puppet, a body being toyed with as Nebiros pleased. At the same time... as long as Nebiros had that face, as long as the Diabolo used that particular puppet for his ends... Ren didn't want to have to think about what Rai would look like when he died.
"...your jewels?" After a moment the boy managed to pull himself up from his own thoughts enough to ask the question, tilting his head. "You said something before about using them to be a witch, but... wazzat really mean?"
Satella nods once as she lifts the back of her gloved left hand with a mount in the center. With her right hand, she pulls out a emerald jewel holding it between her index and middle finger with the rest of her fingers curled and her thumb up. Satella begins to explain, "...something like that. I am a hexen dew juwel, juwel witch you can say. My family possess the ability to summon magical beings from the juwels."
Satella pause for a moment as she inserts the emerald jewel into the mount on her left hand. She held that hand out revealing the inserted jewel. The emerald jewel glows a faint light feeling Satella's thoughts. "Only my family are able to summon from juwels," Satella finishes. If, she could find someone else other than herself to do this, it would most likely be her sister. Satella kept a firm emotion, trying not allow the where abouts of her sister cloud her.
As when presented with any new and exciting thing, Ren's fingers twitched. He knew in his heart of hearts that he shouldn't poke someone else's prized personal possession.
But he'd always been a physical, hands-on sort of guy. He almost couldn't help himself at all.
"How's it work?" One hand slunk forward hesitantly, aiming to touch the jewel and brush over the glove and mount, to see how the emerald had been fitted in in the first place and how much force it would take to get it back out.
Well this is a first, Satella thought for a moment watching Ren's hand reaching out towards her glove. This didn't bother her. The jewel's glow would fade as Ren's finger would stroke her glove. A sliver circle is engraved around the mount with three jewel points of a triangle. With her same fingers, Satella removes the jewel from the mount holding it again between her index and middle fingers.
"I have come to love my juwels," Satella replies with a soft smile. Something her sister taught her long ago. She then tilts her head aside with a soft smirk, "if you like, I can show you outside ya?"
The remaining sadness melted completely from Ren's face. This was something so massive that it had to happen outside. He could already feel himself getting excited.
"What's it summon? Is it big? Could it knock down the hotel?"
The woman watches the young boy already excited about this. This is definitly a rare expression someone has shown to Satella. Usually, they would call her a witch on how she summons magical beings from within her jewels. At least the depression has died out, for now.
"I summon May, February, and October. May is big....Eh..it's a possible but there is no way I am demonstrating like that." Satella tries to keep up with his questions. He sounds like an exciting boy ready to open a present on Christmas.
Eyes shimmering happily, Ren stopped tracing his fingers over the jewel and slid to his feet. "Can you show me outside, though? Why'd you name them after months? Does that mean there are nine others? And other people like you?"
Really, he was trying very hard not to be overwhelming...
Satella continues to watch him highly amused. Curious boys, she guesses. The woman lifts herself up as well brushing her long red hair aside. "The month corresponds with the constellation. You will see when we are outside. I'm afraid I'm the only one left within my family who are able to juwel summon, well myself and...my sister."
She tilts her head towards the door, "well, shall we?"
For a moment he was frowning again. Really, that had been one of the last times he and Rai...
