Sakura blinked. "I- I completely forgot about that."
She hadn't seen Naruto anywhere around the Sannin. Focused as she had been on everything else she knew she wouldn't have missed seeing him. "I didn't see any sign of him there..."
Sasuke scoffed, dubbing Sakura as incompetent in his mind. As useless as she seemed to be at the moment, he figured she could aid in the search to find their lost teammate.
"No, I didn't see him either," he said while sighing. With Jiraiya's current state of mind, it wasn't unbelievable that he would let Naruto run off on his own.
Sakura ran her hands through her hair and sighed. "He can't be too far away though. He was just with Jiraiya-san not too long ago..."
Except, she was talking about Naruto. It was quite likely that the idiot could be anywhere in the city by now. Most likely getting himself into some sort of trouble.
Sasuke remained silent. He was obviously angered by Naruto's disappearance though he attempted to put on a nonchalant facade. Naruto was certainly more of an idiot than he originally thought if he ran off at a time like this. The presences of both Orochimaru and Itachi had been confirmed in the world, which made Sasuke continue to wonder if the rest of Akatsuki was there as well. Not to mention the possibility of other enemies they have yet to encounter...
"Naruto, you idiot..." he mumbled to himself. His teammates always seemed to be dragging him down and in his way, causing unnecessary trouble.
"Well, this is Naruto..." Sakura laughed weakly at her own joke. Inner-Sakura was celebrating the first chance to finally be alone with Sasuke since entering this world, but even she couldn't stand up to the genuine worry Sakura felt. Too much had been happening, too many things going wrong. "We'll just have to find him ourselves. Sasuke, where would he be most likely to head off to?"
Sasuke mulled the thought over in his mind. He knew next to nothing about their current location. After remaining silent for a moment, he finally decided to speak up.
"I'd normally say a ramen stand, but..." he began, pausing momentarily. "I don't know what's around here." Although he didn't exactly like cooperating with Sakura, he needed to locate Naruto before Itachi, Orochimaru, or any other enemy got to him.
"True," Sakura took out her communicator. No new messages from anyone, but then Naruto hadn't been doing so well with his own in the first place. "Maybe leaving a message wouldn't hurt..."
"I didn't see a ramen stand, but it's a place to start," And knowing how Naruto got when he was hungry... "Maybe we can check any nearby stores? Naruto'd head straight for the closest one when he gets hungry."
"I tried already," Sasuke replied in a calm manner. He had left Naruto a message a few days ago and has yet to receive a reply.
"Yeah, that seems like something he'd do. Though I'm sure we'd hear about it if someone saw him around." Sasuke of all people knew that Naruto's eccentric personality stood out in a crowd. If Naruto had met up with anyone else, there would surely be news of it.
"Oh," Of course Sasuke would have already thought of that, Sakura sagged a bit. Without knowing more about the city and even the people there she honestly couldn't think of anything else to do. "I don't know, the only other thing we can do is search the city."
Upon hearing Sakura's idea, Sasuke groaned in annoyance. It was just like Naruto to get lost and cause everyone this much trouble. Itachi's presence in this place put Sasuke's mind on edge and it didn't help that Naruto went missing. He knew for a fact that Itachi was after Naruto, though he doubted Itachi would make a move if he didn't have any of the other Akasuki members with him. If Naruto wasn't missing, he could be actively searching for a way out. Sighing, he remembered exactly why he preferred working alone.
"I'm sure he's fine though," Sakura said quick to try to reassure herself and Sasuke. Well, mostly herself, Sasuke seemed more annoyed than worried. "Naruto always seems to get himself out of serious trouble easily."
