Plumbing project #2, my first to involve soldering, more than made up for how well Project #1 went. The first attempt leaked, still not sure why except that I must have screwed up the soldering. The second attempt was doomed to failure, I had forgotten that the pipe was dented on the side facing the wall, so it didn't even come close to working. My third attempt used up the last of the spare parts I had bought and required cutting the pipe close enough to a T that I'd have to replace that to make another attempt. It was also almost midnight by that point, so if I failed there would be no more parts until the next day, and this being the main water feed, also no water for the night. Fortunately that one worked, or at least has yet to spring a leak. I've discovered two things: I don't care much for soldering, and those pre-soldered joints are well worth the money.
My next project to involve plumbing will be remodeling the bathroom. Hopefully that will go a bit better.
