An overdue letter for Lucrezia.

Jun 03, 2012 02:32

Lucrezia,

Apologize for delay in response.

Letter showed signs of damage - suspect met with issues in transit. However, blame cannot be entirely placed on mail service. Have taken some time to compose response, as was not easiest letter to write. While ever eager to speak with you, some points require deliberation to address.

Have gratitude for telling of own family, was interested to hear of. Despite father's failings, am glad at least you, Lady Vanosa, Chesric survived Invasion intact. Would concur with assessment of Lady Vanosa's loyalty, if actions during winter's troubles any indication.

As to Dawnbreak - all that can say is in experience: few sin'dorei actively believe are doing unjustified wrongs.

Those committing vile acts usually believe have good reasons for doing so. Does not change vileness of actions, nor does necessitate forgiveness by those acted against. Understanding of motives behind speaks more to empathy of victim than to perpetrator's morality.

Am glad that are able to see Dawnbreak's view of situation, and that intend to write. Sounds as if woman did best to help when realized gravity of situation, and revelation of Redbrook's full depravity could not have been easy.

All this said: You owe nothing.

Hope that will not attempt to pressure you into accepting attempts at atonement. Have every right to anger. Anger yours alone to give or keep. Forgiveness also yours alone to give, to those that choose to. Some deserve - have been very glad to see reconciliation with Lady Vanosa - some do not.

Are many in world that do not, easy though might be to overlook.

On subject of inquiry, please bear with. Explanations clumsy, and information not often recollected to others. Apologies mine for not doing so sooner. Acceptance of remains at your choosing.

Ties to Lazirus are through his mother and blood.

Have said before that was friend to mother at one time. Retained some ties (if not always on good terms) up until Invasion.

Lazirus is blood, but not my son.

Nature of word would imply were father to him. While true in most literal sense, relationship false in all others. Hold that for better or ill, fathers those that raised. By such, do not qualify.

'Uncle' was mother's choice of word, not mine. At time, easiest to explain distant, interrupted presence. Was largely uninvolved in life. Remain so, beyond current role as legal guardian. Even then, find distinction largely unnecessary. Requires some assistance in handling of financial matters, occasional social navigation - little else.

Role handed over when arrangements made to bring Lazirus to Quel'thalas, otherwise mother would still have care of.

Lack of involvement not so much conscious choice as way events aligned. Have been soldier for many, many decades. Despite periods as civillian, have never led life very well-suited to raising child, and relationship with mother volatile.

Lazirus needed mother more than my interference. Appreciate judgment in not asking him of matter - aware has heard choice words from mother for absent father over years, and would like to retain trust present for 'uncle' figure.

So yes - middle name from brother. And curious as to what paperwork requires it. Will need to speak with about upon return, and add own signature where necessary.

Must say, would find battle in fine dresses impressive. Perhaps if Lady Vanosa remains insistent, could commission mail skirt as compromise.

As stands, letter's proposition appealing.

Miss you dearly, and hold in high memory time spent in Nagrand. Am sure would do admirably in Reliquary work if chose to, however concur that relationships within units rarely end well. Argents less-than-scrupulous in that regard - from what have heard out of Icecrown, results often heart-wrenching, at times disastrous.

Still waiting for reassignment orders. Skeleton crew remaining, so must be soon. Will inform as soon as know for self.

With love,

-Andovar.
