As some of you may already know, I own a tiny zoo. That is a bunny, three cats and two degus. Four furry ones who walk around the apartment, two furry ones in a cage. I've had some difficulties with them all, one cat had a bad pissing-problem ( ;D ) the bunny eats everything in sight, other cat doesn't eat anything aside raw meat etc. Many (mostly people with one or less pets) have wondered why on earth would I want so many and aren't they a lot of work and WHY ON EARTH?!
I won't bore you with the story of how each of them got here. Let's just say that each and every one of them was carefully thought of and planned. My mother for example has at many times proposed that I should get rid of someone, the rodents preferably (don't get me wrong, my mother loves animals, it's just that she's always afraid that I won't be able to provide the best care for them cause there are so many). To tell you the truth, I was considering it at one point, just for the girls' (that is the degus) benefit - but for now I believe I can give them a good home. Our surroundings have changed since the last time I thought about it.
Let's get back to that WHY?! At the worst times I've asked myself the same question. However it has always been answered to almost as soon as I've asked it - with a certain look by someone in our little pack, or by the cuddle of a cat or the joyous jump of the bunny. As many people and definitely many doll collectors, I love cute and beautiful things (the beauty of course is always defined by the seer). To me, these pets of mine are the most beautiful creatures on the face of Earth, and I love to look at them. I also like to cuddle them and try to give them the best life as I possibly can - because they deserve it and because I love them all so much that I can't describe it.
They've all got different personalities, and one of the intriguing things is to observe the differences between them and getting to know them all to the bone. Since you've read this far I might as well tell you about them.
The oldest cat is sort of a loner, but she needs human contact at times she chooses. She's not that keen on the other animals but I've seen that she has a soft spot for them anyway. She just doesn't want me to see it ;) Proud and noble but still at times clumsy and frolicy. And she's my little big cat and the first one so we know each other extremely well.
The second cat is has a Personality. She's needy and demanding, but extremely soft at the same time. She loves attention but is very fragile - very loving creature, likes guests but definitely loves me the most. My little Princess and Diva ;)
The youngest is lively as his racial standard is (he's a purebreed somali cat), and adores human contact. He's continually hungry though - I know that he's not an adult yet but still! He's got the attention skills of a bumblebee and the memory of an elephant. He can't concentrate for a nanosecond and he can't remember anything beyond two minutes *rolleyes* In all his enthusiasm he's simply lovable. He's my little boy (although he's already bigger than the second cat).
The rodents have less distinct personalities, but they are different from each other; One is social and curious, the other is more reserved and careful. Both are still adorable and I can totally tell them apart even if no one else can :P
And then the last one, the bunny. He has the biggest ego in the whole lot of them, and I'm not exaggerating. He doesn't take orders well, and he rarely succumbs without a fight. He hates living in a confined space, so nowadays he has his own room. From which he has to get out of for many hours a day :P And the thing he's most famous for; he's probably the most greedy animal on the north hemisphere. And this has been said by a person who has owned an extremely greedy labrador. Well, he is famous because of that greed; he won a Finnish newspaper competition for the funniest pet in Finland. Got double the votes of the second comer...
Every single day I stare at them all and can't believe how adorable they are. And then the bunny comes begging for sweets or cuddling, or one of the cats comes to rub her/himself on my feet - and I know I've just made the right decision to get them all.
And of course, this much blabbering about them needs a couple of pictures!
This is Tyyne, the eldest cat
The middle cat, Valma, the little diva...
And the pure-breed one, Aarne. Or by his registered name, Misobel's Attila :)
The rodents, Santra & Serafiina. So damn cute <3
And last, but definitely not least, Seppo! The most arrogant bunny on the northern hemisphere. And the cutest thing alive!
That's my pack. Just wanted you to know them. Cause I love them.
