-The Beatles Live at the BBC For me, who has listened to almost every regular Beatle song like a million times over, this is like HOLY CRAP NEW STUFF! Like...I had no idea they covered "That's All Right Mama". Paul's voice=like buttah XD
As much I like the trippy, avant-garde Beatles, the early rhythm and blues Beatles are a close second :)
My fave-raves are:
Lonesome Tears in My Eyes (almost Latin-inspired, says one of the only people who likes Besame Mucho :P)
The Honeymoon Song (WOW, I had no idea a song existed that is the soundtrack that fantasy I have of me and Paul having sex on the beach. I can literally hear the waves crashing in the background everytime I listen to it XD)
Nothin' Shakin' (But The Leaves On the Trees)-(I kind like these early songs that George sings on. Plus its a rockin' little number)
Don't Ever Change
I'll Be On My Way
Soldier of Love (Lay Down Your Arms)
Crying, Waiting, Hoping
-Wings, mostly Red Rose Speedway Hence my most recent Tweet :P
Since I didn't have Internet on my birthday, I was able to tell you about my prezzie. It was The McCartney Years, which has ALL of Paul's solo music videos from back when they weren't called music videos but promotional videos. I usually watch the first disc 'cuz...eh, mid-80's Paul is kind of weak. A lot of the songs, like "C Moon" and "Take It Away" I had NEVER heard before. But now I has them! (from "Wingspan")
Remember I said Paul can make a song about random crap and it'll still be good? That rings true. My favorite in that category is Songs Paul Tries To Pass Off With Compromising Sexual Lyrics. Serious, listen to "Big Barn Bed", "Hi Hi Hi", and "Eat At Home" and tell me they aren't clever disguises for naughty things. My mind doesn't jump to conclusions without a springboard ;)
I poke fun at Paul but I love 'em :)
Faves...hmm.
Goodnight Tonight
Daytime Nighttime Suffering (Paul's pretty good at writing songs from the POV of a woman, lol)
C Moon
Big Barn Bed (it made be some metaphor for some kind of...barnyard orgy but it rocks)
When The Night (this song falls in another category: A Song Built Around Vocalizations With Minimal Lyrics)
Coming Up (like a flower! The
video is pretty hilarious, too)
No More Lonely Nights (I still want to find a copy of "Give My Regards to Broad Street", no matter how cheesy it turns out to be :P)
-The Incredible String Band
-The Move
-Kaleidoscope
The Left Banke
-Strawberry Alarm Clock
-Traffic
-Love
-Donovan
-The Pentangle
-Electric Light Orchestra
-The Hollies
Not really specific songs for those bands. Whatever they play on Lastfm I listen to.
