Funny, you don't look 230 years old...

So another Independence Day come and gone, and I again feel the need to say thank you to all those who have worn the uniform of our armed forces, for their part in defending the country that was born 230 years ago today. So...despite not having anyone handy to say it to in person..."Thank You". Just sending the thought out in general I guess.

As to the local celebrations today, though, I've seen better. To those who missed the Raleigh fireworks display at the fairgrounds--honestly, you didn't miss much. I ended up watching from the lawn of one of the businesses in the Pylon park, along Beryl street, and I wasn't terribly impressed with the display. It was fairly short, clocking in at almost exactly 20 minutes, and the finale in particular felt like it was here one second and gone the next. Well-choreographed, but lacking in length. I guess fireworks are expensive though... And traffic getting out sucked. I tried to leave the back way, going past Central Stores and through the tunnel, and I don't think that was any faster than other ways I could have gone. Might have been slower, in fact. It still beat trying to leave Regency, as that was a nightmare every year we went out there, but not exactly fast either. Oh well.

Still can't complain though. We've got our freedoms, and we got the day off work...:)
