life: Oh yeah, remember me?
It's late and I'll be waking up insanely early to roadtrip tomorrow, so this'll be short. I just wanted to say that I survived the con.
This might be presumptuous however as I have yet to see how badly my j2 pic came out. After spending 209 bucks on it, I will cry if it sucks any harder than my pic with Corin Nemec. Not their fault of course. Alllll meeee. Sigh.
The spring semester has now started. I had been looking forward to SPN returning the same week, but some GENIUS decided that it was a GREAT idea to pre-empt SPN in favor of a buncha tweaker vamps and nikita. Which sucks because I had a soft spot for nikita thanks to the old series that made me want to give it a shot over the summer. Ooops. Not watching it now. Yes, we remember this shit, CW.
After all the work the online peeps did for CW this fall and during hellatus, I gotta say, that was a pretty douche-bag move. We're used to douche from CW, just like from WB, just like from every network except USA networks, actually. But amping up the IT'S COMING BACK ON FRIDAY ads and then YANKING it on THURSDAY? That's a whole new level of stupid. It deserves applause, really, 'cause it took nerve.
But I digress. The con kicked all ass. Maybe someday I'll make myself take the breathing time to write about it before I forget everything.
First off: I won the vid contest for Friday!! (Will post to youtube eventually...) But alas, we were an hour too late arriving for me to have seen what ppl thought of it. Seeb said they were talking about it in the vendor room tho, so that's gotta be a good thing, right? And the co-creator of Creation Entertainment thought it was great. =cD
Friday highlight: a bit of karaoke amusement from Richard/Loki: well shit, that got lost to the effing huge cell txt msg dump just this afternoon. =c( If anybody has a text from me Friday the 14th of jan and it's a quote from Richard... pls to b posting?
Gabriel Tigerman on his way to drunk: "Damnit, look at me when I'm singing to you!" said to Richard, while attempting to sing "I don't wanna miss a thing"
Also, Gabe does a kick-ass rendition of "500 miles" FYI.
Saturday highlight:
1) everything from Corin Nemec. Just... everything.
2) Samantha Smith, discussing her typecasting-esque habit of playing mothers when she'd love to play the kick-ass Lara Croft type:
"Big boots do not bad-ass make."
Sunday highlight: Meeting Jensen and Jared - Jared was confused, Jensen was a gentleman, I was confused, it was maybe fifteen seconds, but hey, I got a (sideways) Jared hug, and got to watch an unusually timid Seeb ask Jared "Can I have a hug?" and watch this towering man give her a big hug.
Jared, btw, is huge. Jensen not as huge as I expected. Jared tho. Yeah.
Also, seeb and I spent forever trying to figure out what to "do" for the photo ops. Then I read that "poses" are not allowed. So we stopped. But guess what. People did it anyway, to some AWESOME results, damnit. So next time - cause there will someday be a next time - it will be to hand Jared and Jensen the cameras and ask them, "Uhmm... can you be fangirls?" because I just thought that one up and think it's a kinda fun idea they'd enjoy too. If anybody steals it, 1) I'll be mad. 2) better damn-well send me a framable pic to go on my famous-person-wall-of-awesome. ::grumble:: damn internet.
Anyhow. So yeah. I survived my first ever con of anything! Woot!
