I don't know if I should be overjoyed, or concerned. According to
AMC (You know, the movie theater people) the 80s are making a cinematic come-back. That's not a big deal, Hollywood has very little imagination in the age of CSI and Reality TV, so no surprise there.
The surprise is that the proposed movies are - EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM - in my TV-on-DVD collection.
In order of my amazement:
MacGyver
....let me pause to let your brain come back from the "WTF? SRSLY?!" moment we just had...
Magnum PI
Fraggle Rock
and, just because it'll make my sibling's year...
21 Jump Street.
According to that link up there, these projects are 'in development', which could be anything from they have a script in hand and are putting things together, to meaning some poor writer nerd is drinking a lotta coffee and mainlining a lot of old TV show episodes.
I can just see a 30 something in jeans and week-old t-shirts surrounded by fast-food takeout and crumpled paper with bloodshot eyes and a half-crazed smile on their face as they hear the MacGyver theme song play for the 35th time in 2 days... I wish they'd call me. I'd marry them. ::sigh:: At the very least, keep them well stocked with coffee.
