the economy? uh, yeah. it's like a tower of cards. and i'm sitting here watching the news thinking, "cheney's just palmed the ace from the bottom layer..."
i'll bet you anything that mccain and palin - bush/cheney's newest puppets - are the ones who get elected. and with new government oversight on the money markets, it's just made the hole bigger from that crack they started with the Patriot Act. Republicans say that liberals are the extreme socialists ala the former soviet union, but if the government has access and audit rights to every mortgage/borrow/lending/BANKING company in the freakin' US, on top of all the "rights" the federal government gave itself with the creation of the Patriot Act, they control the money. every penny of it can now be traced, tracked, sped up, stopped, or covered up by anyone with an inside interest.
this is not only for the individual united states interests, but this is foreign interests as well. our crumbling market is impacting other nations' monetary infastructure right now. and the key players are people who already have a shit load of money, more money than they can ever use in one life time. so it can't possibly be about the money, about simple green greed. there's no point in having all the money in the world for simple greed.
it's a power play. it's the good old boys club fucking with things because they have the power to do so. it's what cheney did to california years ago when there was the enron scandal. cheney calls a meeting, they swap some trade secrets, and laugh as they pull the plug on the electrical power for most of the state of california. people could have (perhaps did? i don't recall.) die because they wanted to see what they could do by leaning on the right set of brokers and CEOs. we got in a war because they found out that it worked and wanted to ply their new-found tricks on a foreign market that served as their main competition for various different kinds of trade. and look what happened... gas goes up nearly tripple and they blame it on the bad guys. now, we have five months left of bush and cheney's reign, and this happens. it's not simply a quarter-century's worth of bad decisions falling at the wrong time. it's cheney's next 'fuck you' to the people of the world.
it's rather coincidental that this follows a hurricane that wipes out an entire city's worth of homes, businesses and jobs. all those people no longer have jobs, no longer have homes, but they're still indebted to their various lenders to pay things off. meanwhile, they're all filing insurance claims to rely on that for assistance to help them float, and what's going to happen? all the places that would have to pay back the money, ultimately, are under parent companies to bankrupt banks.
as the saying goes, "it's the economy, stupid."
bullshit. it's a freakin' mess. and the vile ugly insiduous schemers that are the political machine are the ones happily scrubbing the mess away with muddy water.
grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
::coughs::
damnit.
